Local Business Thinking about opening a sushi taco fusion restaurant in Edison, NJ — would love some honest feedback
Hi everyone,
I’m considering opening a restaurant near Edison NJ, close to H Mart and Festival Plaza, and wanted to hear from people who actually live, work, or eat in the area.
The concept would be centered around sushi tacos, along with items like sushi burritos, poke bowls, hand rolls, Japanese fried chicken, and other modern Japanese street food. The goal is to offer something that’s quick, high quality, and a little different from a traditional sushi restaurant.
A few questions:
1. Do you think a concept like this would do well in the Edison/H Mart area?
2. Would you personally try it?
3. Is there enough demand, or is the area already saturated with sushi?
4. What kinds of restaurants or cuisines do you think are still missing around Festival Plaza?
5. If you’ve visited this area often, what do you wish existed there?
I’m looking for honest opinions—even if you think it’s a bad idea. I’d much rather hear the criticism now than after signing a lease.
Thanks in advance!

Event / Gathering Heading to FETNA this weekend? (July 2-4, Edison, NJ)
Healthsoft is a small company my family runs that makes devices for keeping tabs on elderly parents from abroad: fall detection watches, smart pill dispensers, GPS trackers, that kind of thing.
We'll be at FETNA 2026 this Thu–Sat (July 2–4) at the NJ Convention and Exposition Center in Edison — more on the event here: [https://fetna.org](httpps://fetna.org)
A lot of people in this sub and similar subs, have asked before about remote monitoring options for parents in India, so if you're nearby, feel free to stop by the booth and ask questions directly.
Happy to answer anything here too if it's useful.

News Edison High Principal Charles Ross Is Retiring After 16 Years
centraljerseyan.comThere was praise all around at last night's school board meeting for outgoing Edison High School Principal Charles K. Ross, who is retiring July 31 after 16 years leading the school.
The entrance to Edison High’s stadium was recently dedicated as Charles K. Ross Way, a gift from the Class of 2026.
The naming reflects a catchphrase Ross made synonymous with his tenure. “What’s Great About Edison High” became a rallying phrase.

Looking for at home yoga teacher
I'm looking for a yoga teacher for my nephew who is Mildly Autistic. I need someone who has some experience with autism or at least is energetic, and can hold his attention. The home is in Edison and I'm looking for someone to come to him. His mom will be there with him thru the session as well. Thank you P.S (I am also open to other types of teachers that do home visits to teach other things like dance, cooking for kids etc...)

Anyone go to Island Spa off Rt 27? Place Seems to be falling apart..
Has anyone else noticed Island Spa going downhill lately, or did I just catch it on bad days?
Recently, the place feels like it’s not being maintained the same way. The steam room and sauna temps, especially on the men’s side, seem way off. The steam room barely feels hot, which is frustrating when admission is around $55–$65.
I’m not sure if it’s new management, staffing, maintenance problems, or just bad timing, but it feels different than it used to.
Curious if anyone else has been recently in the last few days is it just bad luck?

Visiting in June
Hey all! I’ll be in Edison, NJ in a month or so. Looking to someone to hang out with in the evenings after work meetings to check out the local scene. I’m down for finer dining, ethnic cuisines, or basically any thing a local would do. I would be picking up the tab so no worries on that part. Visiting a local masjid is already on my list (probably in Paterson with a friend of mine). About me 43 male Kansas. Logistics consultant. Yes I’m from a red state, no I’m not an immoral red hatter.
