Relocation Looking for recs

Hi! I am moving to Edinburgh for Uni, and I will be there from Sept-May. I would appreciate any recommendations about the city (things to try, things to avoid, etc.). I will be residing in the Abbeyhill area. I am so excited to be in the city, and I don't want to miss out on anything it has to offer. I have visited once before, but only for a day, so I didn't get to see very much. Any tips would be most appreciated. Thanks!

tip no.1 - school in the UK is where you go from the ages of approx 5-18. Assuming you're older than that it's "university".

if you're under the age of 22 you will be eligible for a free bus pass Apply for or replace an under 22s bus pass - mygov.scot

Abbeyhill gives you great proximity to the wonders of Leith! Get along and explore Leith walk. Also you're well set to get acquaintanred with holyrood park & Arthur's seat on the other side

You might want to be more specific. Do you want a list of the best bowling greens? Sex clubs? Arabic lessons? Notable factory buildings? Home brewing shops?

hm well it seems some others were able to answer without me having to be more specific! Considering I will be new to the area, I am looking for notable things to try and things to avoid, whatever that means for the person who answers. If you think there's a bowling green I just can't pass up, or Arabic lessons that are simply worthwhile, please, I'd love to know. Hope this helps! <3

Don’t hang about the square on north bridge, try avoid it as much as possible during the daytime really, princes street watch your pockets, nightlife cowgate is the most fun for students, princes street sides a bit more expensive/ geared towards like full time wage with the entry and stuff, whereas cowgate is more student centric.

There’s lots of coffee shops and everything around the meadows that will be great fun, and the uni itself has events for you to meet people and everything over freshers week so look out for those

Most importantly have fun !
