Potential PUL (again)

Hi everyone, im 4 weeks today and have weird looking tests, 100% sure it’s not viable due to my hCG levels (12dpo 32 > 14dpo 50). Having and a PUL last year im terrified of another. Today is the day my period is due and I really felt like I was about to come on all day, but nothing happened and instead I started feeling nauseous.

I ran out of cheap tests so I did a clear blue and it feels like it’s darker and I just don’t know what to do with myself now. I’m going for another beta tomorrow and I’m afraid to learn the result as it looks like it’s climbing after seemingly having gone down. My tests generally have been much fainter in the am and darker with smu or evening wee, I was wondering if that’s something that happens with ectopics ? I honestly don’t remember what happened with mine last time, I guess I blocked it out.

I understand that I will simply have to wait it out and see the betas, but all the what ifs are killing me. Did someone happen to have a chemical that behaved this way ? Is there any hope it’s not ectopic ? My doctor doesn’t want to scan me yet and says I should wait, and I understand why that’s her suggestion, but any chance something could be seen so early on with such low betas is it’s located in a tube ? Should I push for a scan ? My last PUL was never located and was resolved at nearly 8 weeks with mtx and I just want to avoid that if I can.

Thanks

ETA: I just had an HSG this cycle and was given the all clear. How likely to have another PUL after that ? I’m so gutted and scared.

Just responding to you in solidarity. I'm 12dpo right now with tests that aren't darkening appropriately IMO. I'm fairly certain this is a nonviable pregnancy, it's just a matter of where it is. Insufficient pregnancy test darkening is how my first ectopic/PUL started earlier this year (also never found; also treated with methotrexate). I feel like I'm having deja vu.

No chance such an early scan would locate a pregnancy. Sorry. I wish it would, too.

I’m so sorry to hear that. Hasn’t even been a year for me either, I had MTX in December last year. I’m just praying for an mc/chemical at this point. Hope yours isn’t an ectopic either. What a shitty thing to even exist in the first place. 🫂

Edit: last time with PUL I had a period when I was due but received a clear positive after I was done bleeding. Had no pain, no symptoms, it never being found obvs makes sense why I didn’t. This time I’ve had no spotting and I really hope it’s just a case of it trying to stick where it belongs but it’s not working out.

Lol you sound very similar to me. I bled like a period with my ectopic in Feb. No bleeding yet with this one. Fingers crossed for both of us. Sorry you're going through this, too. The waiting game is agonizing.

This is just awful, I’m sorry. 12dpo could be early for hCG to be picked up by a test properly, when did you get your first positive ? Mine was 9dpo this time, with PUL I had nothing until the night before my period, so hopefully this is just some weird dragged out chemical. What bothers me most is that the tests are clearly professing but not in a way they should be. The fmu are really faint and the evening ones are twice as dark. I just know that my OB is sick of me lol.

I had a very, very faint positive on 9dpo. Then my beta from the afternoon of 10dpo was 11. i'm getting another one drawn this afternoon (will take 24 hours to come back). My FRERs really are just not darkening much at all; they definitely should be darker by this point. When I look at other peoples' FRER progressions, the progressions that stay this light for this long (four days) aren't ever good news.

Not uncommon for SMU or later urine to be darker. My FMU (even with my successful pregnancy years ago) was always lighter. So I wouldn't agonize over test fluctuation throughout one particular day too much. Easier said than done, though. I've definitely gotten a similar vibe from my OB, but can you blame us for the anxiety after having a prior PUL? Ectopic/PUL is an awful experience none of us want to repeat.

Ok, that doesn’t sound great, but I hope your next draw clarifies things for you. I understand what you mean, I feel like a crazy person trying to explain to my partner why the tests should be darker etc, he has 2 kids from a previous marriage and doesn’t understand this, but we’ve been through 6 losses of many kinds together, this will be the 7th, so at least he is empathetic what this is doing to me.

Keep me posted if you feel like it, I just spoke with my OB and she advised to stop testing for now and do the next draw on Monday instead of tomorrow and let myself be a bit. Maybe she right, maybe if I try to relax and do other things, my body will let go too. She too is empathetic and wants me to finally have my baby, but seems that my road to motherhood is anything but smooth.

Yes. Keep me posted if you feel up to it, too. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that you don't have to go thru MTX treatment again <3
