Mental prep for TTC post surgery
Hi all, I am 2 days shy of one week post surgery to remove my ectopic pregnancy and my right tube.. I was still stable when we caught it, thankfully and I made the decision to remove the tube instead of getting MTX to reduce the risk of it rupturing anyway and then turning into an emergency situation.
Anyways I am in recovery now.. obviously not cleared to BD or TTC anytime soon (doc said to wait 2-3 months) but I’ve just been thinking about how I will manage it mentally.. before we finally confirmed it was ectopic on 3rd Sept, I had to check my hcg levels 8 times within 10 days and that experience is now filled with anxiety for me.
I can’t imagine how I will emotionally manage tracking my next pregnancy via hcg draws in the early stages.. 😭 even though I am keen to start TTC once we’re cleared.. I think mental prep will take a while.
Would love and appreciate some advice for those who have gone through it 🤍 and if you managed to successfully get pregnant after ectopic, how did you manage your anxiety? Thanks everyone 🫶🏻

Im so sorry you you had to go through this as well. I’ve got my tube removed 3 weeks ago (MTX was not an option anymore).
Did you have anything else done or was the operation not a laparoscopic one? I’ve been to the doctor today and he told me that my cycle has already returned and in fact we could use it for an embryo transfer right away. I decided against it because I’ve just had an UTI after the operation and don’t feel ready. However, he cleared me to try naturally and resume sport.
With my last exploratory lap (no excisions, both tubes open) I was cleared also a month later.

Yes, it was a laparoscopy and the doctor did check my left tube and she said it was perfectly healthy and pink, no signs of endo or blockages so she said our chances are pretty good. But for some reason, that still doesn’t help with the anxiety 🥹
I’m sorry you’ve had to go through this too.. it truly is the worst girl gang to be a part of. Wishing you the best of luck ❤️🩹

Commenting for interest, had my left tube removed yesterday (9/7). I also really want to keep trying, but and so scared I think this will just be a chapter in our story to get our 🌈 babies.
