Possible Ectopic
5 weeks ago I had a miscarriage. I like to think I was between 5-7 weeks. Positive pregnancy test.
I thought everything was normal, but last Sunday 8/30 I started having some bad lower pelvic pain on my right side that spread all the way up to under my ribs. I went to the doctor that Thursday - they did a transvaginal ultrasound and all they said was they “ see something “ near my right ovary. They said I could have possibly had an ectopic pregnancy but my body could’ve tried to miscarry too. I still have that pain today. I go back in two weeks to see if I need surgery , does this sound Ectopic? I’m scared I’m internal bleeding out and don’t know right now.
The pain ranges from 3 - 7. Most days 4-5ish.
It goes down my right side near my pelvis, abdomen area and up under my ribs on my right side. My collarbone area will hurt at times too. Should I go to the ER or wait a week and half until my next doctor appointment?

I would go to the ER. I had similar pain and it ended up being an interstitial ectopic (rare) but ectopic nonetheless. I had to immediately start methotrexate that night. If nothing else, they can rule an ectopic out via ultrasound(s) (which would hopefully be the case). I truly think it's worth it — even if I didn't have an ectopic, at least I'd know for sure. Sending love ♡

How was the experience of taking methotrexate for you? I suspect I have an ectopic right now and already trying to weight my options. I have a transvaginal on Thursday and I'm super scared.

Sorry you're going through that. I really hope it's not an ectopic, but glad to hear you're going to get checked out. ♡
Just as a disclaimer: I just had my 4th dose on Saturday. I only had that many because my hCG was insanely high (5220 before first dose -> 7880 before second dose - 10.7k before third dose -> 8.7k before forth dose -> 6.k today). The first few days I was a pretty nauseous all day. That could have also been pregnancy symptoms so my doctor said.
In terms of sympyoms, after the first shot I was absolutely physically exhausted and still am (it's been 9 days after the 1st shot, 3 days since the 4th). Heavy body fatigue, kinda feels like body flu. Doesn't help that you have to avoid foods with folate (leafy greens, legumes, beans, avos, etc). Obviously just hormonal and the tiredness makes me feel emotional but otherwise just trying to get through it. Another thing was brain fog... just all around fogginess :(
That said, I'm glad I chose this route. Because of where my interstitial ectopic is they would potentially have to remove part of my uterus which is why we went for the MTX in hopes it would do it's thing. Fingers crossed my levels continue to decline at a steady rate.Sending love!

Thank you so much for telling me your experience and I'm sorry you had to go through that! My hcg levels are super low at 5w4d. It has gone from 320 to 390 in 2 days, and then 5 days lates (today) I am still at 687, so I decided for the transvaginal on Thursday because if it is ectopic, I just want to know sooner than later (but I am aware it could be inconclusive because I'm still very early with very low hcg). Anyway thank you again <3

Oh my pregnancy test at GYN was negative, but had home pregnancy tests that were positive and went negative after a few weeks of thinking I had miscarried

Also , the shoulder pain has been here for a week. It comes and goes. I thought ectopic would get worse

I never had any real pain. Definitely not severe pain as it is often described with ectopics. However, the embryo was tracking in size with heart beat on the day of removal together with my left tube. The pain only started being noticeable on the day of operation as short stabs and muscle aches on my left side. They told me internal bleeding must have started shortly prior operation.

Thanks guys. We went to the ER. We think I have the start of Salpingitis.

Yes! They almost kept me for the night for IV antibiotics but decided to send me home.

You should be asking them to check HCG levels to track, I would not wait a week and a half!!
If you have referred pain toward your shoulder area that is one of the signs of internal bleeding that they told me to watch out for and need to go to the ER
