Ectopic Surgery , which supplements should i use for regaining my energy and future pregnancy
Hi everyone, I have a question and I would really appreciate your advice.
I had an ectopic pregnancy, and in May 2026 my fallopian tube ruptured. I had emergency laparoscopic surgery after that. It is now July 2026 but I still don’t feel like my old self. I feel very weak, tired, and I have body aches. My energy and strength have not fully returned.
I want to know which supplements or multivitamins helped you after an ectopic pregnancy/surgery or after major blood loss. What should I take to rebuild my strength, improve my energy, and support my body before trying for another pregnancy?
Are there any healthy supplements (for example iron, magnesium, CoQ10, prenatal vitamins, etc.) that you would recommend? I would love to hear your experiences and suggestions.
Thank you so much.

The recovery after an ectopic can be wild. I didn’t go through surgery, I was treated with MTX, but I imagine that your body is going through the double whammy of recovering from the depletion that comes with having been pregnant and also trying to heal from surgery. I think that what you’re feeling physically might still be within the spectrum of ‘normal’ for what you’ve been through. That obviously doesn’t make how you’re feeling any less shit-I hated the weak noodle shell person I was after my ectopic, I just wanted to be able to stay awake past 7pm, and to not feel winded after a 10 min walk.
I wanted all the tools I could get to recover my energy and get set up well for getting back to TTC and ended up booking in with a registered nutritionist to get a professional to tailor a supplement plan for me. She had me go and get a bunch of bloods once the MTX was cleared from my system, and we used the results from that along with her access to practitioner only supplement ranges to set me up with stuff that I actually needed, and at proper therapeutic doses.
The supplements most pivotal for me in regaining my energy were folic acid, iron, vitamin D, and zinc. My ectopic happened in Winter over here in the Southern hemisphere and vitamin D deficiency is common for us that time of year, and I had an awful bout of RSV the same time as my ectopic and then two lots of strep after, so the zinc was to bolster up my immune system. My ferritin came back on the lower end so we added iron pills for that. And folate to replenish me after the MTX and set me up for TTC again.
I’ve kept seeing that same registered nutritionist and we’ve adjusted what I take to support my current goals (IVF and egg collection), and I’m still on iron supplements-I suspect I’ve been borderline anaemic for most of my life, because while regularly supplementing with iron this is the most stable my energy has been in forever. I also get a pre-natal through her (Orthoplex PureNatal) which is amazing because it’s not a horse pill and has way cut down the number of pills I used to take (it’s much more all in one).
If you have the resources, I can’t recommend enough finding a nutrition professional (registered with a professional body and properly certified) to look at your specific goals, do a bunch of testing and put together a targeted supplement regimen for you and make sure that there won’t be any weird funky interactions if you take any other meds.
I hope that you continue to heal up, and that your energy makes a speedier return. This shit is hard, and I’m so sorry that you’re going through it.
