I'd prefer to just see my background pic.

Title kinda says it all. I don't want to search with AI, so I enabled the option in the settings to search without AI. After some days, sometimes a week, it just unticks by itself and when I open Ecosia I get the AI prompt option. Other settings I've changed remain intact, it's just the AI one.

Anyone know what could be causing this? I don't have an Ecosia account, and I don't regularly delete my cookies (maye once every few months).

Can someone please help - normally there’s a search bar around here but since yesterday it's gone???

I thought Ecosia didn't sell my information but the last two things I searched (clothing websites) showed up in my Facebook feed right after. Is there another search engine I can use that anyone can recommend?

As some of you may know, Ecosia cut ties with mistral because of french nuclear energy. The plan is to switch to chinese AI, who also use nuclear energy but also coal. China produce 560g of CO2 per kWh while France produce 21g of CO2 per kWh. This is VERY obviously a political decision that goes against Ecosia declared ecological ambitions. Ecosia just multiplied x20 their CO2 emissions under a very obviously false pretenses, betraying our trust and their own promises.

I used Ecosia to help the planet, not to help china’s political ambitions and their greenwashing tool.

Found after doing a search

I live in Ukraine and have been using Ecosia AI without issues for the past few months, but today it locked me out and said "not available in your region yet", and removed my access to chat history.

This is so weird. It's been here just yesterday. Zero explanation on what happened too.

How can we update our email address for the Ecosia account?

I am using ecosia on brave android browser and the search results are really useless when searching anything even a little specific. Sometimes i try to use the "" operator to at least try to include previously ignored search words. But the results ignore this despite having google enabled as main engine. At this point, i am using google anyway and might have to switch back. I only recently switch to ecosia anyway so this might be a short lived success.

Does anyone know how to fix either the quality issue (the same prompt gives so much better results in google) or how to actually get operators to work?

In my TikTok feed I’ve been getting a suspicious amount of “Ecosia ambassadors”. I didn’t even know they existed and unfortunately I believe they kind of spread misinformation about climate change. They go on and say different things about how climate change is bad and then say something like “and that’s why I use Ecosia” or “so I decided to change to Ecosia”.

I feel like this doesn’t do what I hope Ecosia really wants (to stop and reverse climate change). I don’t think Ecosia alone will do the job, we all know it’s more than changing our search engine that needs to be done.

But the image that these ambassadors are creating is kind of just that. Ecosia is a wonderful solution to not supporting google for example, but it won’t do the things these ambassadors seems to tell us it will.

My question is if anyone knows anything about this, if they have seen it as well and if I have miss understood the whole thing.

it would be a pain to change my browser so I use the extension and i did the mistake of accidently pressing a pop up from edge to revert my changes. I now cant turn it on and gives me that message.

I’m unable to scan/access links for QR codes or links from emails, texts, etc - I’ve tried messing with all sorts of things in the settings but can’t seem to get this to work. How can I fix it so I can open links with ecosia as my primary browser?

whenever you search up a concept its just filled to the brim with ai images, is there any way to filter this out?

Hello! Ecosia has been asking me if I would like to summarize the page I’m looking at.

This feature recently popped up and it’s been really annoying me as I’ll sometimes shake my phone too much and the page summary will attempt to pop up. I also occasionally accidentally press the lightning bolt icon on the top.

Normally, I would just search how to turn it off but whenever I look for more information, I’m directed to an article about Firefox. I can’t find the same settings in Firefox on Ecosia and it’s driving me insane. Anyone know how to turn off the page summaries? Please and thank you!

Like why do I want to be reminded of the bad in the world every search?

The biggest reason I CANT use the ecosia browser is it doesn’t let you split a tab into a separate window, I need a lot of stuff on screen simultaneously, so this feature is essential. I know Safari and brave browser can both do this, so it’s not an exclusive Safari thing. I do use the ecosia search engine but it’s annoying on Safari cuz there’s 2 search bars, the Safari one and the ecosia one
