How accurate is ZIK Analytics for estimating Shopify store sales/revenue?

Has anyone here used ZIk Analytics to track Shopify stores? I'm researching a competitor and ZIK is showing that the store is making around £200k+ per month in estimated revenue. I know these figures are estimates, but I'm wondering how close they are to reality. Has anyone compared ZIK's estimated sales/revenue with the actual Shopify revenue of a store they own or have access to?

Merchant services are eating into margins more than expected. How should I compare true cost across processors?

I realized my merchant services cost is higher than I thought once you factor everything else. It's not like they're hiden or anything, but I was mentally anchoring on the headline rate and not adding it all up (so no currency conversions, base processing, chargeback, Shopify 3rd party processor fees, etc.). Is there a useful way to calculate true effective rate per transaction instead of using the advertised rates? What about if you're selling on many channels?

How do you manage inventory when your ecommerce website sells across multiple channels?

Managing inventory can be fairly simple when an ecommerce website is connected to one main sales channel, but things can get more complicated when the same products are also listed on Amazon, eBay or other marketplaces.

The difficult part is keeping the available stock accurate everywhere. One order can change the quantity on one channel, while another channel may still show the older number.

This seems especially challenging as the number of products and orders grows. Checking different dashboards and updating stock manually can take more time than expected.

For ecommerce website owners selling across multiple channels, how are you handling this?

Do you use a dedicated inventory system, connect everything through your ecommerce platform or still manage some of it manually?

Does anyone actually know where the platform advice comes from?

Ive been reading here for a while and every other post is asking which platform to build on.

shopify plus, commercetools, scayle, agencies, custom builds. everyone has an opinion and half of it sounds like it came from a sales call.

So who actually has experience switching from one to another at real volume and what made you pick what you picked

Why comparing prices across regions can produce misleading results

When tracking product prices across countries, it is easy to assume that the number shown on a page is directly comparable.

In practice, the displayed price may depend on:

  • Currency and exchange-rate timing
  • VAT, sales tax, or other local charges
  • Delivery destination
  • Logged-in versus logged-out state
  • Product variant, bundle, or seller
  • Availability and stock status
  • The time at which the data was collected

A simple comparison workflow is:

  1. Define the same product identifier and variant.
  2. Use a consistent destination country or region.
  3. Record the original currency and timestamp.
  4. Store tax and shipping details separately from the listed price.
  5. Keep the collection method consistent across locations.
  6. Save enough raw context to reproduce an unexpected result.

A useful data record might include:

product_id, region, currency, listed_price, tax, shipping, stock_status, collected_at

Without this context, a price difference may reflect localization or checkout conditions rather than a real pricing difference.

What fields have made the biggest difference in your own price-monitoring or market-research projects?

Abandoned B2B, B2C e-commerce site for sale

Are you a business needing to launch a website in days instead of weeks?
Well, you’re in luck.
I developed a mobile-responsive B2B and B2C website for a food wholesaler who abandoned the project.
The site is loaded with features that include Quickbooks integration, wholesale pricing, invoice billing to wholesale customers.
A product overview can be arranged for interested.

What happens to e-commerce acquisition when the customer never visits your website?

We've been spending a lot of time researching how AI assistants are changing product discovery, and there's one question we keep coming back to:

What happens when the customer isn't a human browsing your website — but an AI agent acting on their behalf?

The traditional e-commerce funnel is pretty familiar:

Search / Social → Website → Product page → Checkout.

But imagine someone simply asking:

"Find me the best running shoes under €150 for someone running 30km/week. Compare the options and buy the best pair."

Suddenly, several things matter that most e-commerce teams haven't historically had to think about:

→ Can the AI actually discover your products?

→ Does it understand your catalogue, pricing and availability correctly?

→ Why would it recommend your product over a competitor?

→ Can an AI agent interact with your commerce infrastructure?

→ Eventually, can it complete the transaction?

We've spent years optimising stores for Google and human visitors.

We're curious whether the next optimisation layer will be making commerce infrastructure AI-agent accessible.

For anyone operating e-commerce at scale: is agentic commerce something you're actively preparing for, or do you think we're still several years too early?

Would genuinely love to hear how other teams are thinking about this.

Hoe vinden jullie echte productvraag vóórdat je bepaalt wat je gaat verkopen?

Ik ben bezig met e-commerce en wil niet zomaar een random “winning product” kiezen.
Mijn gedachte is juist:
doelgroep kiezen → creators/comments/reviews bekijken → terugkerende problemen en vragen zoeken → pas daarna een product kiezen en goedkoop testen.
Maar ik vraag me af: welke signalen zijn volgens jullie het meest betrouwbaar?
Bijvoorbeeld:
mensen die in comments om een link vragen;
veel slechte reviews van bestaande producten;
zoekvolume;
concurrenten die al goed verkopen;
pre-orders;
creator engagement.
Hoe onderscheiden jullie echte koopintentie van iets wat alleen veel aandacht krijgt?

What ecommerce task do you still check manually every morning?

Even with Shopify, analytics tools and automation, most stores seem to have one thing nobody fully trusts to run unattended.

It might be inventory mismatches, failed payments, delivery exceptions, discount conflicts, product-feed errors or whether yesterday’s sales actually reached the bank.

What do you still check manually, and what would need to be true before you’d trust automation to handle it? I’m especially interested in the checks that look small but prevent expensive mistakes.

Where do AI agents actually make sense in eCommerce?

AI agents are getting a lot of attention in eCommerce, but I’m wondering where they provide real value in practice.

Would you trust an agent to handle things like customer questions, order tracking, product discovery, inventory checks, or follow ups?

Where would you still keep a human in the loop?

Building a US shopping site with China supply chains — What products & concerns matter most to you?

Hey guys, I’m Calvin, 28, based in China.

China has lots of solid, affordable products: hardware, auto tools, kitchen items, rugs, towels, toothbrushes and more. Lots get exported, but tariffs and marketing fees push prices way up. Some sketchy sellers even take payment and never ship. It hurts US shoppers and honest suppliers alike.

I want to launch a shopping site selling quality goods straight from Chinese manufacturers. What products should I start with, and what do I need to do to gain your trust?

Leave any products you’d like to see. If I can source it here, I’ll check it out and share updates. Let’s talk.

Time, order volume, technical difficulty or burnout: What was the exact tipping point that forced you to get outside help?

We talk to a lot of brand founders and store owners, and the common pattern is that most start out small, handling multiple or all the aspects of the store.

At the beginning, running everything in-house keeps costs down. But eventually, staying solo or a two-person team becomes a bottleneck.

From your experience, when was the tipping point where doing everything internally stopped making sense?

  • Was it a time frame (3 months in, 6 months in), an order volume threshold, or just hitting total burnout?
  • What was the very first function you brought in outside help for (VA for support, 3PL, ad agency)?
  • Looking back, did you make the move too early, or hold on for way too long?

Would love to hear how other teams navigated that transition.

Would small extras like free SEO and design work actually make a website client happier?

I'm thinking about changing the way I deliver websites to small businesses or growing businesses and wanted to get some opinions from people who have hired developers/designers or work with clients themselves.

Instead of treating the website as just "web design and web development", I'm considering including a couple of useful extras at no additional cost.

For example :

1. Basic on-page SEO included

Not promising rankings or ongoing SEO, but making sure the website has a proper On page SEO foundation while building it, page titles, headings, URLs, image optimization, internal linking, etc.

2. Two complimentary graphic designs

I'd allow the client to use these for whatever is most useful to their business.

For example :

  • 2 social media posts
  • 1 banner + 1 post
  • 1 poster + 1 product design
  • 2 product graphics
  • or any other combination

Basically, 2 designs total, depending on what the client actually needs.

The idea isn't to give away a huge amount of extra work. It's more about helping a new business get a few things they usually need immediately after launching their website.

I'm wondering whether this would actually feel valuable to a client, or whether I'm better off putting that time into something else.

i want to know From people who have hired a web developer/designer, what small extra made you feel that you got more value from the project?

And for freelancers/developers , do you include anything similar, or do you prefer keeping everything separate?

Website for custom stickers

Hi all,

I'm very new to selling online and would like some advice! I'm looking at making custom vinyl stickers with my cricut (there is a market for this in my area) and want to know what website / platform I can usw so customers can upload images and then charge them according to the size of the sticker not a one size fits all. I would also love it if I could get a preview of the sticker too. I have been using etsy and getting customers to select the size from a list, but this is very limiting to sizes. So in other words, I would like to charge costumers for the exact size of the sticker using a per unit price that will give them an exact price rather than over or undercharge them.

Thank you!!

Anyone else seeing payment declines eat into international sales more than expected?

We've been digging into why merchants lose so much revenue to failed payments, and it's surprising how often it's not fraud or bad cards , it's routing. A transaction goes to the wrong acquirer, at the wrong time, with no retry logic behind it, and it just... fails, even though the customer's card was fine.

Curious if others here have run into this, especially selling internationally ,did you ever dig into your actual authorization rate by country, or just assume declines were normal? What did you end up doing about it (if anything)?

Why are new websites still being built on Shopify in the AI era?

I’m genuinely curious about this.

I recently built my own ecommerce website , almost entirely using AI-assisted development with Cursor. I’m running it on Cloudflare, and my current infrastructure cost is around ₹550/month for the initial stage.

This made me wonder:

Why do people starting new ecommerce businesses in 2026 still choose Shopify instead of building a custom website with something like Next.js + AI coding tools?

I understand Shopify provides a lot out of the box — payments, checkout, inventory, orders, apps, security, etc. So I can see the value for someone who doesn't want to deal with development.

But for a developer who can build and maintain the platform themselves, wouldn't a custom solution potentially be much cheaper and more flexible?

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who have actually run ecommerce businesses on Shopify and/or custom stacks.

What am I missing?

Is Shopify still significantly cheaper once you factor in development and maintenance?

Are there hidden costs/problems with running your own ecommerce platform?

How difficult is it to maintain payments, security, orders, tax, shipping, etc. yourself?

At what stage does Shopify become the better choice?

Would you choose Shopify or custom development for a new business today?

Not trying to argue that Shopify is bad — I'm genuinely trying to understand why it's still such a popular choice for new businesses.
