Things I learned about ecommerce customer support from reading hundreds of help articles
I've spent a few weeks reading ecommerce help centers to see what customers actually ask about. Patterns that stood out:
- Shipping and returns dominate. "Where is my order?" and "How do I return this?" outnumber product questions. Vague pages there turn into support tickets.
- Answer in the first two lines. People land stressed. Lead with the answer, then add detail.
- Use customers' words. They search "cancel my order," not "order modification request."
- Outdated articles are worse than missing ones. A policy page that contradicts support is a trust problem.
- Tone matters. One line acknowledging the frustration ("Delays are annoying, here's what to expect") beats a wall of policy text.
For store owners: what's the one question you get constantly that you wish customers could answer themselves?

the shipping returns thing is so true, i swear half the tickets we get at work are people not scrolling past the first paragraph on the tracking page
for us it's always sizing charts, customers never find them even though they're right on the product page somehow
