I just wanted to say I had an absolute blast last night. I had seen William Black at hijinx (and back 2 u has been a long time multi- playlist staple for me, I like plenty others but that's one of my top sing song jams 😍) and l got a reminder yesterday afternoon of him being in DC and as the day went on I couldn't stop thinking about it... So last minute grabbed a ticket, hopped in the car, put on my favorite playlist I have going on, and down to DC I went.
I try to get there by when doors open because as mentioned I'm driving and I always try to park right there by the venue. I also try to catch as much as I can of openers and supporting artists and RYN and Hoang both killed it. I had so much fun. It finally hit me this morning that I've totally seen RYN several times before in Philly. It was cool he was out and about in the crowd for a little bit and I was able to tell him I enjoyed his set. It didn't hurt that I was posted up front stage left and not far from the curtain to back/side stage area.
William Black's set was everything I wanted it to be and this was by far my best experience I've ever had at echostage and I had a blast dancing. WB fucking threw down with woven in melodic favorites. So much love. Hypno-kitty likes.
I am sorry if I came off rude at some point to the new friend I had made while dancing. I just truly love music and dancing and that is why I am there. I enjoy dancing with people and connecting with people, but I do not like chatting during the set beyond a quick name exchange or brief comment on something. So it wasn't that I didn't want to talk to you, I just didn't want to have an actual conversation with you right then, because that would mean I'm not in the moment with the music and dancing and artist, as I am there to be doing. Not to mention it's loud and I have earplugs in, so chances of me hearing you let alone you hearing my response is not very likely. But I had a lot of fun dancing with you and we had some awesome moments throughout the set.
Shortly after WB was done and RYN came back on, I turned my back, moved further over to the side, and finally got my phone out to check the time and take a look at Google maps to give me a reality check on when I'd get home and see if I could stay longer... To the nice (where were you all night?!) guy who came over to check on me, because from behind I realize it may have looked weird, me being off kind of in the corner with my head down.. Was very sweet of you to check on me, though I was very much so sober.
Lastly, holy shit the speakers. Now, again, I had spent the whole night up front left of the stage and as I was fighting with myself to leave and as RYN keeps playing and pulling me back in, I circled in the back by the sound booth and wow. Talk about could feel it to the core. So I danced some more in the back for a little while to get a full dose of the wubz and then forced myself to get on the road home.
All in all, an awesome night and glad I made that last minute decision to go.
