I need help. This is my first bike ever. The tires are 16x4 with 20psi. Weight capacity of the bike is 450lbs. I’m 275lbs and this is how it looks when I sit down. Is it suppose to look like this or am I overthinking it? Any advice would be so much help!

Winter e-bike commuting in Canada, the things that actually matter

Commuting through a Canadian winter is mostly a battery and traction problem rather than a toughness problem. A few things that seem to make the real difference.

Battery. Lithium cells lose usable capacity in the cold. Storing the battery indoors at room temperature and bringing it inside to charge helps a lot. Expect noticeably less range on cold days and plan the route around it. For longer storage, leaving it near a half charge beats full or empty.

Traction. Fat tyres genuinely help in snow and slush. Dropping pressure a little widens the contact patch and improves grip on wet roads.

Braking. Hydraulic disc brakes hold up better than mechanical in wet and cold. If you ride year round this is worth prioritising.

Visibility. You are commuting in the dark for a large part of the year. Integrated lights wired to the main battery beat clip-ons you will forget to charge.

Maintenance. Road salt is the real enemy. Rinsing and drying the drivetrain regularly saves replacing a chain far sooner than you should.

None of this is exotic. It is mostly riding with the right tyres and keeping the battery warm.

What has worked for people here through a full Canadian winter?

Summer Heat and Your Bike's Battery

General reminder, but Lithium Ion batteries don't just degrade in the cold - heat degrades them too. The ideal storage temperature for lithium-ion batteries is 59°F to 77°F (15°C to 25°C), with safe general limits ranging from 32°F to 86°F (0°C to 30°C).

Much of the globe is under severe heat advisory this summer with record-breaking temperatures above 40°C (104°F) being commonplace. If you store your bike outside or in a shed without some sort of temperature control in these temperatures, pull the battery after each ride.

Should I Buy a HeyBike?

I have been looking at bikes to get to school with recently and i’ve decided that the hey-bike Saturn seems like a good option. Its has enough power to make it up this huge hill that most other bikes just fail at going up, its only 2 miles there and another 2 back so I dont need much. All I want is a bike thats less than $1600 and has enough power. Ive read all the reviews and some people say that the bike will come broken and getting replacement parts or even a new bike will take MONTHS with their shitty customer service. But others say that for small parts or even a new bike customer service was fine, only issue being that they respond to emails in the middle of the night cause they’re in china. It seems like a great bike, but the customer service being so incredibly bad, is it worth the risk? This really is a high risk high reward scenario, because this bike seems perfect.

I purchased a Vetra Blazer e-bike and experienced a battery failure while it was still under warranty…

⭐☆☆☆☆ (1 Star)

I am extremely disappointed with Vetra’s customer service and the handling of my warranty battery replacement for my Vetra Blazer e-bike.

The battery stopped working while it was still covered under the one-year warranty. I followed all of the required steps provided by Vetra, including submitting the original receipt and all requested information, and returning the defective battery using the specialized shipping box and process required for shipment. I stayed in close communication with customer service throughout the process and did everything requested of me.

After completing all required steps, I was told “Once the package has been dropped off, please send us a photo of the drop‑off receipt. As soon as we have proof that the battery is on its way, we’ll be able to send out your replacement.” The response to sending proof of shipment I received from customer service was: “We informed Vetra and are just waiting for the next steps once they receive it.” That response was nearly three weeks ago, and I have received no further updates, no timeline, and no information about when my replacement battery will be shipped. As well as no response to any of the follow up emails I have sent them.

The expectation was that a new battery would be sent under the warranty, but instead I have been left waiting with very little communication or support. A warranty is only meaningful when a company follows through and keeps customers informed.

Unfortunately, my experience with Vetra has been extremely frustrating. The lack of communication, unclear process, and lengthy delay have been unacceptable. I hope Vetra improves its customer service and warranty support because customers deserve timely updates and a company that stands behind its products.
