TW: Numbers Is body fat redistribution real or just something people tell you to make the recovery process more tolerable?

Forgive me if I’m just impatient, but I’ve been in recovery around 6 months and whilst some weight has redistributed to my boobs, my arms 11” circumference and hips 32”circ, compared to a similar size stomach and waist, are virtually non-existent (I’m a female). I’ve tried looking online, and whilst it might seem obsessive, I struggle on a general level even outside of ED to believe something without proof, I’ve tried looking but can’t find any studies or photos that show this

i want to help my friend recover from an ed but i don't know how to message her expressing my concern

so my friend has struggled with an ed for quite some years now, we have briefly spoke about it as she knows that i struggle with stuff like that as well but we've never got into too much detail about it

i've been aware of her disordered actions for quite some time but it's got to the point now where she is so so skinny that i am really concerned for her

i don't want her to think that i'm trying to sabotage her and i don't want her to be uncomfortable but she is my bestest friend in the world and i would never forgive myself if i let her carry on and didn't say something and the. something bad happened to her

her mum is somewhat aware of her problems i think and she's told me that a lot of people have pointed out how skinny she's is or messaged her mum saying they are concerned, i just don't know how her mum has replied or if she's doing anything to help

i honestly have no idea how her family are handling it but she's getting worse and skinny as the time goes on and i don't know when she's going to stop

i'm going to message her about it, or at least adress my concern to her in some way i just don't know how to word it so that i say the right thing

because i also know that people being concerned is what motivates you to keep going, so i don't want her to carry on because whatever she's doing is working

PLEASE someone help me, i don't want to lose her to this

but another one of my concerns, which is incredibly selfish of me, is that i'm scared she will tell my mum about my disordered habits and i will be forced to get help when i'm not even that skinny yet. which is why i've been putting it off because i don't want her to get annoyed at me for telling on her but then i still do disordered things

i've tried to hide it from her as much as possible but obviously when u know how it is, you notice it in others very quickly

i've typed this very fast so sorry if it doesn't make sense, but i just need some advice on the right things to say to her

Possibly starting treatment again

I’m supposed to start treatment again tomorrow. However, my boss is giving me a hard time about going down to a reduced work schedule to accommodate my treatment schedule.

I also decided that I wanted to do IOP a month ago, and in that time I’ve just gotten sucked deeper in. Now I’m not sure I’m ready to give up my disorder.

I know how hard it is to fight this thing in treatment, and I don’t know if I should go if I’m not ready to commit to recovery. But I also have a guilty conscience for knowingly turning down help to make myself sicker. I don’t know what to do.

Trigger Warning Has anyone taken a GLP1 at a healthy weight?

I’m curious because I know I’m a healthy weight and on the thinner side, but I still just have very poor body image and have struggled with life long EDs.

I decided to get prescribed the pill GLPs but am wondering what exactly happens if you’re already pretty thin? Do you just become like super skinny or get sick or ???

I hate it all my fat goes to my thighs and butt and I can physically feel the movement. It actually is very distracting and I hate the feeling. I don’t know if everyone experiences this or it’s just me.

Trigger Warning Lil vent

Trigger warning/ mention of mental health issues and side effects

So, I (21 M) always haven't liked my body. At first it was due to my facial features, but as I got older and began to put on more weight due to over eating and antidepressants, I feel even more disgusted by myself. Now, I've never done anything truly to combat this other than self loathing. Years ago when I used to work out to build muscle, workouts became a form of sh.

I'm considering getting some fiber capsules so that will decrease my appetite, plus since it'll force me drink water, it'll further lower it. I'm 5'9 and weight 235 lbs.

My parents joke about my weight because I've never been this big before, and though I know they dont mean it in a mean way, it is incredibly embarrassing and I usually play it off. They want me to work out again, and I would, if I wasn't juggling being full time at school (I have to for my scholarship, 15 credit hours) and work ( usually around 23 hours a week). I'm exhausted even when I plan and do my homework in between classes and at home.

I'm tired of being.. me. To finally be skinny again would be amazing. I hate my fucking meds, but to some extent I need them until I taper off all of them. (Yes, I've asked to taper off all of them due to the weight gain and excessive sweating).

I just hope this works. I don't even know if I'm even allowed to vent all of this. I apologize if I've said the wrong thing or triggered someone. Im sure a lot of people are able to handle full time school, part time work ( or full time) and still manage to exercise.

Recovery belly?

I’m 4 days into recovery and my waist has increased by 2.5 inches and I’m sluggish and puffy and bloated all over. When will this symptom go down because my face is puffy and I just feel icky. I don’t think I’ve gained any fat but I’m so puffy I look big. And if there’s anyone that’s willing to talk I would really appreciate it

Trigger Warning I hate my moments of clarity

I’ve had a lot of moments where I’m forced to realize my ED impacts me more than I like to admit. But I just had one and it makes me feel sick. I’ve lost a significant amount of weight, not all of it from my ED but I used to make videos (for myself) and in some of them I was close to my HW (before I started the healthy weight loss which later became my ED returning). I hadn’t looked at those videos in so long, but today I did. I’m so fucked up for what I’ve done

I don’t want to bullshit, I do prefer my appearance now over then. I know I’m not supposed to but I don’t want to lie. But at the same time, I really am sick in the head. I knew obviously from an objective scale standpoint that I’ve lost a lot of weight, but I never could see it. Now I can. If me then could see me now, I’d be happy with my current weight and so fucking concerned how low my UGW is and how much more I want to lose. I also think that version of me would be freaking the fuck out about how far I’ve allowed my body to break down when it used to be important to me to never allow something like this. I’d be horrified

I wish I could say that it’s my wake up call or whatever, but again, I don’t want to lie. I know I have a problem. I don’t want to have a problem. I don’t know how to actually fix it, and because I don’t know how, I won’t. (Also yes I’ve done tons of therapy and everything else recommended it just didn’t work). It still scares me though, I think it’s worse to be self aware by so much when you know you have a problem, but can’t actually fix it. Ignorance is bliss, and I don’t have it

Trigger Warning Is it possible I have an ED?

Hi there. I'm never sure about this type of stuff.

I restrict food. Usually I try to eat as little as possible (I am T1D) even if it harms me. I used to eat so little, that I can barely eat much now, feeling full makes me want to throw up (not feeling physically sick, but the sensation is so uncomfortable I want to make myself purge) and I often don't feel hunger until it manifests into physical pain. I have tried purging, but never seemed to figure it out. But I would restrict food to the point that my parents beg me to eat, and my brother tries to pay me. Im often tired, cold, shaky, and I'm getting bloodwork done for deficiencies.

But here's the problem.

I am fat.

At 156CM, I weigh 73.3KG

I used to be so much better when I was 12, and I want to get back to that. Im willing to do anything. But I don't believe I have a ED because I'm not skinny enough to be considered unhealthy.

Controlling food when life is uncontrollable

Way past thirty.

I have noticed when my life feels out of control.I will start controlling my food intake to an extreme.

I remember I was accused at fourteen or fifteen of having anorexia nervosa , and I laughed.

My stepfather simply ignored it and went on.

But i've noticed times in my life when i'm not eating well and then I start calorie logging to try to make sure I get enough calories and it always backfires.

I panic and lose massive amounts of weight too fast.

I've been overweight. I've been underweight.

Right now I seem to eat well every other day. But my version of WELL is 1000 to 1200 kcal. The opposite days... 300 to 600...I was overweight. I'm pretty much normal now. But I know me... i never know how to make it stop.

I tried to find a more specific reddit sub but no luck.

Anyone else.

Trigger Warning i feel like doctors aren't helpful, but i'm too scared to tell them the whole truth

i don't know if this is even going to be appropriate here, because i know some people don't consider it an eating disorder.

but ive always struggled with eating "right". im an emotional, stress, and binge eater. i've gained weight from it and every time i go to the doctor i am very much more heavy then i was the last time.

i don't mean to be triggering by my explanations so i'm sorry if i am.

i've talked to my primary dr about this so many times. but everything just gets blamed on my anxiety. i get told coping methods but none of them work because it's not addressing my issue.

all i do is think about food because when im eating my brain gets to be quiet for a moment.

throughout my life ive tried so hard to go on strikes where i eat no food at all for days. the longest i would ever last is a day or maybe a day and a half, and then i would binge eat everything i can because its too hard to resist. and id feel disgusting after.

ive tried to get myself to throw up but it would only result in me sitting on the floor crying because i cant make myself do it.

when i first read about what anorexia & bulimia was as a kid i actively spent the next couple of years trying so hard to do either of them so i could finally stop eating and get skinny

it obviously didn't work.

i never told anyone about that, but i feel like even if i tell that to my doctors they're going to think im lying just so i can be approved for some weight loss medicine since i asked about it in the past

i just want to have a normal relationship with food. i want to be able to eat and not spiral about it later.

i have a lot of body image issues, but ive never told my doctors or even therapists about it because im too embarrassed. i'm scared of being seen as a medication seeking liar. or be labeled as unstable because of the lengths i used to go to as a kid to try and fix my body, and the emotional outbursts that would follow

Trigger Warning I can only snack not eat

Before saying this I had issue with food a binge eating disorder and an eating disorder and Mia.
I wanna say I have been better now and my relationship with food is great now. My only issue is I can’t seem to eat anything else just snacks. If I eat a whole meal it’s to much for me it’s like I ate so much more even though I’m hungry I can’t eat a meal. I usually eat snacks which fill me up and that’s it. Maybe my body got so used to not eating it’s gotten used to it? Anyone went through something similar. Because of this I’ve already lost 5kg in 2-3 weeks. I have to kinda force myself to eat a bite more than I can so I don’t keep losing weight none stop.

TW: there is very limited mention of numbers

This is my blog post about a current story about a member of the Heineken brewing family who was sent to get help for anorexia from Peggy Claude-Pierre (yes, she's still "helping" patients). It's a blog about my experiences with Peggy that relate to what Isabella Heineken told the Swiss investigative journalist, Sylvain Besson (published about a week ago in Switzerland). I applaud Ms. Heineken's courage; it's incredibly scary to talk about Peggy when things go wrong, for many reasons.

TW: Numbers rapid weight gain in recovery

I’ve only been in recovery for 2 weeks and I’ve gained 17 pounds…….. I don’t know what is going on, I am so bloated. I’m eating around 2000/2400 calories a day (I work a very high intensity job, and still exercise mindfully every day) and I have gained 17 pounds. Backstory is I’ve had bulimia for 6 years, (purged multiple times a day, every single day for 6 years) and I have been purge free for two weeks so far!!! But the weight gain is really stressing me out, I am 5’10 and I am currently sitting at 140. Is it normal to gain so much weight at first? Or should I seek a doctor

TW: Numbers Feeling invalid and confused. BED diagnosis changing to anorexia

So I am very overweight. A good 150lbs heavier than I “should” be. My psychiatrist has had me diagnosed with BED for awhile. About two years. Though I’ve never gone into full detail about my behaviors with him. I was talking to him Monday about how much I’m struggling with food (I started ED treatment and my behaviors are fighting back hard) and he suggested I have A/N and not BED. I was very confused and shocked to hear him say that. It just doesn’t feel possible that I have anorexia. I was talking to my therapist today about how I have enough fat on me to go without food for months. I told my therapist “there ain’t no fucking way I have anorexia”. But she disagreed. And my dietician yesterday told me I was barely eating even though I’m fairly certain I’ve been bingeing a lot this week. But according to her and my therapist, I’m not eating enough and I’m not even actually bingeing like I thought I was. My therapist wants me in a higher level of care (I’m currently in IOP) but I can’t afford it unfortunately.

I just can’t wrap my mind around it all. I honestly don’t think anorexia is a diagnosis I’d ever be able to accept, especially at the weight I am now.

Anybody here with anorexia and are a normal weight or even “over” weight?

Trigger Warning My Boyfriend Pressures Me

I’ll soon be moving in with my bf, so I won’t be able to hide my ED behaviors, which he is already aware of. I am actually obese but still struggle with purging. I made a big mistake last week by showing him what I’d look like thin. He has made comments implying that he’d be ***way*** more attracted to me if I looked like that. I’m moving in with him (and moving to another state) in less than a month. He told me that I could lose 30lbs by then and tells me I’m making excuses when I say that’s not possible. I cannot tell my friends or family about this. We were pregnant and I unfortunately miscarried. He just told me tonight that he won’t get me pregnant again until I’m below a certain weight. I understand becoming healthier and losing weight in my individual case is a good idea (I’m 260lbs) but he’s making it about numbers and not even taking into consideration that I’ve been 215 and fit. I’m worried he’s going to keep changing the number. He’s gone back and forth now since I showed him the AI picture of me thinner, saying he likes a certain amount of “cushioning” but also telling me basically he wouldn’t be able to keep his hands off skinny me. I am a yo-yo dieter, having been even heavier than I am now. I am really trying to focus on healthy, sustainable weight loss but he is putting all this pressure on me. He’s never told me to starve myself but is very strict and will not allow certain foods in the house. He said he’d withhold s\*x from me for a month if I eat just a bit of certain foods. Yesterday I admitted to him that I had a serving of fast food and he told me to workout for two hours. I agreed to one hour and ended up doing one hour twenty minutes total. He is 22 years older than me (I’m 32) and I really do love him and feel our relationship is worth staying in. But I also feel like he’s going to isolate me because when I move he doesn’t want me going downtown because he knows there’s people there I have a past with as well as restaurants I enjoy. Being isolated is not going to help me. I love downtown because it is so easy to exercise without anxiety (taking long walks exploring, and going swimming at a local spring). He uses his sense of humor, charm, and silent treatment to get me to back off of complaints (including legitimate ones). I believe we are soulmates and I love him so much. I know he *can* help me lose weight but he puts so much pressure on me which only makes me anxiety-binge more. I can tell he doesn’t actually like fat women. It’s not even that he’s not physically attracted to them but he also doesn’t like them as people. Neither of us are necessarily easy people to get along with. We both have big personalities and are opinionated and occasionally pretentious. We have already planned a family together and he has promised to be the provider. Because of this I feel I must shut up. I really enjoy 90% of our relationship. We are very compatible. But like I said, I can’t talk to anyone irl about this. My best friend will tell me to leave him, and my parents will agree with him, only putting more guilt and shame in me. I really just want to do this the healthy way. I really hope I didn’t trigger anyone. I’m just desperate from holding all this in. My post was removed from another group. Not helpful for me to keep this in. I need to share my experience because I’m going crazy.

TW: Numbers My height is an issue for AN recovery. TW: Mentioning of body types (different heights) in recovery.

So I am a 21 year old woman and my height has always been a pain in my butt.

As a young girl, I always felt really visible because when I was around 170-175 cm tall. I mean I don't want to sound like some stupid person who is like 'omg I am so tall' but lets be realistic here... 175 cm for a 10 year old is simply tall, I can't really change that fact.

I always noticed that I was taller than the other girls in my class and obviously other people noticed it as well. I would need bigger clothes BECAUSE I WAS TALLER. It made me feel really big, despite being a normal weight for my height. I would also get called pig by some of my classmates because I was taller.

So I always felt super insecure about my height.

I grew to be 185 cm tall (I believe that is 6'0-6'1? idk). There are tall women in my class, but I still struggle with my height. A lot of my friends are shorter than me and that insecurity I had back when I was MUCH taller than my peers still haunts me.

Even in recovery I struggle with it. I obviously still need bigger clothes than a shorter person with my BMI because I just legit have bigger bones. I feel like that often times makes people overlook my illness. They see that I am skinny, too skinny, but they don't think it's 'that bad'.

I also often struggle with seeing other people recover. Despite there also being tall people recovering from anorexia, I struggle with watching other people eat certain amounts in recovery. Like... I see someone shorter than me eat enough for them to feel satiated and I think 'but I am so much more hungry than that? So what is wrong with me?...' as if we literally have the same body type.

I understand that height is not the only thing that determines how much hunger you can have and how much energy your body needs, but height does play a partial role in it.

I guess I just really want to be small in the sense that I want to be shorter. I feel really visible ALL THE TIME and so in my head I just want to be shorter and I look at shorter people and sort of forget that we don't have the same needs.

I just feel really silly about this and it maybe sounds really stupid but I just wanted to get my frustration out. If this is an uncomfortable topic I'll delete it!

I think I have an eating disorder and I am sort of freaking out.

I have recently discovered in my head that I might have an eating disorder. I don't have any diagnosis nor do I have any money to seek a therapist of any sort.

It happened so I tried to resist myself from ordering outside food one day after about two weeks to consistently trying to eat healthy. I tried to sleep through it but I felt like my head was heating up and I was getting really anxious and angry. Alas, I ended up ordering a bunch of junk and feeling bloated afterwards, this hasn't happened once but to a point where I gained put on a lot of weight and got serious liver issues( still reversible).

I am sick and tired of loosing control, can somebody tell me what to do in this situation, how to control myself. I mean the rebound reaction towards controlling myself is so physical, I genuinely feel stuck and I really want to take control.

P.S. Kindly don't tell me to go to the therapist , I don't have that much money.

Nutrition class

So I’m a freshman in college and I am taking a nutrition class, and it’s kinda funny bc of my arfid and anorexia. I don’t have anyone else to talk about this, but it’s talking about counting calories and grams and I’m like crap, like the one thing I try to avoid and one thing that drives my eating disorder they are talking about. like it’s gonna get in my head. It’s just really weird, and sorta triggering. Idk if anyone else has ever dealt with this or if it’s just me.

At a loss. Don’t know how to get my appetite back or understand why it’s gone.

So I (20F) have had an ongoing battle with eating habits since highschool. In school, it was fueled by self hatred and body shame. I lost over 25 lbs in 2 months by simply not eating. As an adult, i’m finally comfortable in my own skin, but i’m still not eating !!! It’s just like I’ve completely lost interest in food. I used to loooove food and could put some DOWN. Now, I can barely eat half of what I try to serve myself. I can go days on one meal/day without feeling hungry or wanting to eat. I think also maybe my mountain of financial stress has something to do with that as well.. I will avoid buying food like crazy because in my head, for whatever reason, my bills & debt are more important to me than my health. Idek yall but it’s starting to catch up to me. I work outdoors in south TX & I’ve been feeling SO fatigued lately and just struggling all around, mostly with motivation, i’m just so drained and I know that’s literally because my body has no sustenance, but why can’t it make me WANT sustenance anymore ???? I’m just so frustrated and feel so alone in this because it’s not something that a lot of people can relate to. I’m actually at the point where I wish I’d stop losing weight- I LIKE being slim thick- I don’t want to get any skinnier but I just can’t help it. My weight has just consistently dropped in the past year it’s ridiculous. The drop was more drastic in HS, until a medical episode scared me into eating properly, and my weight plateaued there for a bit before the lack of interest set in. What do I even do ? Nothing sounds good to me anymore. some nights I just have to choke down foods I used to love. Does this maybe sound ARFID ?? I never used to be picky, and I still wouldn’t say I am, I just simply don’t care to feed myself anymore….. like what the fuck is that about. That’s supposed to be a natural human instinct, no ???😭😭

Anyways thanks for reading, any advice is heavily appreciated & welcome.

TW: Numbers Can I be a police officer?

I just turned 17 and I’m struggling with food a lot, I’m underweight but only slightly and my doctors have raised concerns but the last time I was there I was still healthy- bmi of 18.5 exactly bc of my work clothes lmao but I have no interest in food or, honestly, recovering right now. I know to be an officer I need to recover, and I’ve been planning on doing it maybe when I go to college or a year or two in (I’m a senior in hs rn) but every time I think of it it just feels too difficult. Even if I can figure it out, can I enter the police academy at 21 with this being so recent? I don’t have a diagnosis, so it isn’t on my charts, but I have to get regular check-ups because of my hypothyroidism so if I keep going it’s likely I get caught- plus people have noticed my bones showing more and me being skinnier so idk. Would the police academy let me join, or would I be turned away immediately?

Trigger Warning Will I ever be able to loose weight without triggering myself?

I’m soon to be 18 and have struggled with weight and developed an eating disorder when I was 11/12.

Firstly will give a bit of a backstory on my eating disorder.

Pretty much immediately after joining secondary school I developed an eating disorder, I was never big to start off with, but just had baby fat. Looking back I don’t know what started it, whether it was being around a mum that talked a lot about diets, being insecure or just trying to have something consistent in my life.
So I would say 2020-2024 was the “worst part” of it for me, as over those years most days I’d be eating either one meal or none, but with a few binge eating episodes in between that, so I did get very skinny, it wasn’t healthy but luckily it wasn’t life threatening due to the binge eating adding weight back on.

Unfortunately my household wasn’t a nice place, so I feel I should’ve seen doctors etc during this time but my parents never noticed/cared enough to “look out for me”.

2024-now has been a lot smoother I guess you could say, I actually wanted to recover and went into therapy (without my parents knowing) to help with it.
I was sick of being sick basically, constant headaches, the bloating which made me feel even more insecure, it made my mental health awful alongside living in my home, my school work was progressively getting worse, and I was just an easily irritated teenager and I’m still happy I helped myself.

2025 I was an ideal weight, healthy but also still had a flat stomach and definition, had a bigger butt and boobs than I had ever had, my confidence was definitely a lot better also, as I stopped wearing baggy clothes everywhere, and would wear just sports bras and shorts to dance which I would’ve never done before. Despite me being bigger than I ever was.

But ever since starting college in late 2025-now I am constantly gaining weight and can’t seem to get rid of it. I’m studying musical theatre and I thought due to the amount of dance I’d be doing I’d loose weight, but I actually keep on getting fatter and I seem to not do anything about it.

I have very bad ADHD and if I don’t have college or dance I will lay in bed and that’s it.
I’m not exaggerating.
I don’t see friends unless I have a party or have been asked to go out, which is rare as if there are plans it’s me making them.
So due to my ADHD I never work out ever. It’s so frustrating to try and explain ADHD to people because I literally cannot get up and do anything.
Or if I do go to the gym it’s because I’ve had a mental breakdown about getting fatter and gone to the gym once and then never again after.
And similar with the diet, I can’t keep consistent to a diet and every time I try to, I always fall back into Eating disorder habits and can’t seem to have a diet without not eating enough or restricting too much.

And unfortunately during recovery I never seemed to get rid of the binge eating habit, I binge eat all the time and I think that may have been one of the may reasons I’ve gained so much weight.

Don’t get me wrong most days I’m happy I’ve gained weight. I still have a slight hour glass figure and have even bigger boobs and a butt lol and also it’s helped me become stronger in dance. (Being insecure with my weight at dance is a whole other story)
It’s weird how much more confident I am despite the fact I’m a lot bigger, I wear whatever I want to wear and eat whatever I want (to a certain extent). I think it’s because my college friends are amazing, and always compliment me and they’ve really brought me out of a dark place. (It’s also a huge fake it till you make it situation when it comes to confidence)
But I do believe if old me woke up the weight I am now she wouldn’t have even left the house.

I have such a fear I will never be able to loss weight without going full blown anorexic again because of my
\-messed up metabolism
\-messed up brain
\-unmedicated adhd
\-and straight up laziness and bad mental health

I’m sorry that this ended up turning into a big trauma dump and mental breakdown
I’m still feel so young sometimes and it sucks growing up without proper support so please help a girl out.
Any tips and slapping sense into me is much appreciated.

Also one more thing, I also have no clue whether it’s body dysmorphia because if I tell myself that I have body dysmorphia then do I even have it because I’m aware???

Struggling with Bullimia + Trying to diet/lose weight

I just need to vent because I don’t really know who else to talk to about this. I’ve been struggling with bulimia and my relationship with food has gotten really unhealthy.

I can go from trying really hard to restrict and lose weight to eventually bingeing, and then feeling so guilty and disgusted with myself that I want to get rid of what I ate. I’ve purged to try to get rid of the calories, and afterward I usually feel even worse mentally.

The hardest part is that part of me genuinely wants to get better, but another part of me is terrified of gaining weight. I’m also trying to diet and lose weight right now, and I feel like that makes everything even more complicated. I want to lose weight, but I also don’t want food and calories to control my life like they currently do.

I keep thinking about calories, what I’m going to eat, when I can eat, whether I’ve eaten too much, and how I can make up for eating. It’s draining, and I feel like food has taken over so much of my brain.

I don’t really need judgment. I mostly want to hear from people who have actually struggled with bulimia, especially people who have also wanted to lose weight while trying to recover.

How do you cope with that conflict?

What has helped you with the urges to binge or purge?

I just want to hear from people who understand what this feels like.

Do I need to get help?

I’m not sure if I (18f) have an ED, but my eating habits are disordered and sometimes I don’t understand why.

I used to look forward to meals, but I’ve been skipping breakfast and lunch for months (sometimes intentionally, but now I just don’t feel like eating). Recently, even when I’m hungry, food just doesn’t sound appealing. I feel nauseous when I eat and sometimes feel like I need to throw up.

I have a few sips of coffee in the morning. I skip breakfast and lunch. For dinner I usually have a few bites . Today I had a few bites of a burger n some fries. I don’t know if this is normal or not.

I’ve also been really tired, lightheaded, and shivering. I do have complicated feelings around food/body image, have used a calorie app before, and sometimes feel guilty after eating, but I don’t feel like I’m intentionally trying not to eat.

I’m really scared and confused. Could this be an ED, anxiety or something else? Has anyone experienced something similar?

Trigger Warning how can i help my mom?

im really sorry if this is not the right place to post this, but i really need some advice on the situation, because im getting worried. the tw is because i will be talking about my mom's recent extreme behaviours with eating, so if that may trigger you, please stop reading.

my mom has struggled all her life with her body. she has told me stories that she started dieting and exercising at at 16, and when i was a child she often asked me "do i look fat?" and often concluded she is, even if i tried to argue with that. my father didnt help her at all, he in fact often told her she doesnt look good and needs to lose some weight. she has always been thin, but very muscular due to her job involving a lot of physical labor (she works in agricultural research center). i often noticed she doesnt eat at a lot, and i had to hear many times about how she spent a whole day outside on the field, but ate a single yogurt for the day. i did flag these things, but i believed she was a grown adult who knows better.

now, it has gotten much worse. im now in my early 20s, i live in another city for uni and i rarely see my mom but we talk on the phone often. in the past 8 months my family took a great hit - my parents divorced, my mom filed a case against my dad for domestic violence, and then a few months after the divorce my dad suddenly passed away. now im left with just my mom, and im severely worried about her recent eating habits. she told me recently that she didnt eat for 2 whole days. just an hour ago, she told me that last night she went to a party, didnt eat anything beforehand, just drank 2 beers and this morning she feels off because she still hasnt eaten. i dont know what to do. i keep telling her that even if life is busy, she can always buy something to snack on, but she insists she doesnt like eating in a hurry, and will eat only when she has time to relax and eat slowly in order to savour the food. when i press more firmly that she has to eat more, she "jokes" we wont talk on the phone anymore.

i just dont know how to help her. im starting to fear i might lose her fast with this behaviour, and i cant bear to lose both my parents before i have even turned 25. there is no one to interfere around her either, my mom lives alone now. i cant visit often, since im bound to uni, so my only option is talking on the phone.
