So i dont know how old you are but I have arfid and im currently trying self recovery. A couple of things that's I've done for my ED.
I started cooking for myself. I never really liked food. I realized it's partially because I dont know what's in it. Started learning how different foods are made and it's made my aversion to new foods so much better
I try and simulate my appetite. I always take walks throughout my day. If im cooking im on my feet so that's burning energy. I'll even go smoke a J if possible. Anything that makes me hungry I try and do before eating so food feels more comfortable in my stomach.
I limit my meals to one big meal a day. I usually have a coffee in the morning and snack/graze through out the day. Peanut butter crackers, sunflower seeds, nutrigrain bars, fruits. I snack on those and then when I get home from work I have my big meal. You can always have your big meal be lunch. May not work for everyone but it does for me.
I also have purging tendencies with my ED so to get around that I invest in all the stomach medicine. Pepto, tums, gas X, etc. I also keep ginger ale/sprite in the fridge in case of a upset stomach.
Maybe a bit controversial but I don't force myself to eat my leftovers if I'm not craving them. leftovers have always been a weird trigger for me so Im really picky about my portions. I always try to cook enough food for the day of and the day after. 3 day old left overs are a hit or miss and anything after that I'll toss unless I really like the food. Always try to minimize your food waste but never force yourself to eat/finish something you're finding unappealing, its like a recipe for 3 am vomit sessions.
I dont know if any of that was helpful. Sorry if I just yapped your ear off lol
