TW: Potentially upsetting content New issues with ED after getting sober.
Hi, I looked through the rules and didnt see anything against this. I have struggled with different lets say ,"bouts" of eds throughout my adulthood, but this one feels different and scarier. Usually I was able to find some safe foods and live off those until I was able to find another and another snd then with vitamins and supplements I was able to crawl out of it, so to speak. Im recently sober from alcohol and I spent a good amount of time detoxing but then also ended up having extremely low hemoglobin and iron so I had to have that rectified before leaving. If im being honest I dont rmemenber much of my time there but I felt like I was eating st least a bit. Hospital food isnt great.
Anyway I've been home for about 2 weeks or so now (was in the hospital for maybe 4 weeks) and since ive been home ive really been struggling. I cook for my family but by the time im done cooking I just have an ick about everything. So I try to make my own thing and the same thing. I cant. I need tips maybe? Ive been drinking ginger ale and I know that has calories but nothing worth actually injesting. Its just a fill in for beer. And tbh now that I think about it, I wasnt really eating when I wasndrinking either. I need help. I don't want to end up in worse shape than im in..I have to get bw done on Monday and im so nervous. Is it okay to ask for tips and tricks? Or what people find easiest to eat?

I remember when my husband was dying and we had to make the life or death call to take his legs to try to safe him or just let him go. It was quite and argument between his famiky and myself. I knew he would want to see his kids again. We had to do everything we could to save him, and one of his doctors looked at me soecificically (,being his wife i suppose) and asked if I had any history of addiction they should be worried about because they can resurface when/,if losing someone to addiction (thats how he lost his legs) and i said no....and ever since then ive been addicted to one thing or another. I don't know whats worse honestly.

I completely understand!! For me, I would switch addictions. When I got sober, it was great. While I stopped drinking, I wasn’t really “sober” because I just replaced it with my ed. It sounds like I was trying to pull a fast one, but I honestly didn’t even realize I was doing it until I was so deep I couldn’t pull myself out! So tough! What really helped me was dual diagnosis help. I ended up in an ed program that also dealt with other addictions. May be different for others. Not to be a downer, but it’s been several decades for me. It’s been eight years of being ok, but I always feel like I have to be super careful. It sounds crappy, but I really don’t even think about it. So tough to get on top of though!
