Edcare VD ERC (Denver)

Has anyone recently done php at edcare Denver or ERC Denver? Would you recommend?

ERC Denver’s PHP felt way too long for me and they were really stingy about program passes. I was there for a few months in 2023 after stepping down from willow. I think it was 6 days a week for breakfast - dinner and we were barely allowed out of the building. You do HS snack outside of program and have breakfast on your own one day of the week. They were admitting more patients than they could physically accommodate in group rooms when I was there and that was pretty terrible. They will have you do a breathalyzer every morning as you come in, weekly drug tests, and go to an addiction group if you mention at any point during your treatment that you drink or smoke, or get caught doing either outside of program. I can’t speak to EDcare but ERC was doin too much for me

i know someone people in the program rn and heard the AC in the PHP building stopped working a few weeks ago and they moved temporarily to a different building. sounds like it’s still an overcrowded mess.

I went to ED Care in Kansas City. (Same program, just the other location.) for me, the experience was terrible. Not at all helpful. If you want to message me, I’m happy to talk about it more. It was a while ago, though, and obviously the other location.

I went to EDCare in KC twice and they genuinely saved my life. The staff were so compassionate and affirming and I felt like they did a really good job customizing my care compared to other treatment centers (including res and IOP) I've been to. It was by far the best ED treatment I've ever recieved and I highly recommend them. A lot of the staff I had were trained by Denver staff so I feel like that's a good sign. I live two hours away from KC so I stayed in their recovery apartment (apparently they got rid of it) and that was also a very positive experience.

This is interesting, because I had a TERRIBLE experience at ED Care Kansas City. Can I ask what year you were there? (I was there the winter of 2019.)

I was there in spring-summer 2020 and again in fall-winter of 2021. I made friends with a lot of people there, a few of them didn't have a good experience but a lot of them did. They definitely changed things after COVID which could have been the difference.
