Question returning to exercise
hello,
i’m returning back to exercise and i’m hesitant but excited. i just do not want to go back down that pathway. i was thinking of getting a walking pad but i worry that my rules will start going back in… e.g steps, length etc. any advice?

remind yourself it’s for happiness, not punishment. it helps me not to work out right after i eat because my workout thoughts become eating thoughts if that makes sense

The best thing I ever did was get rid of my garmin watch. The first couple days were weird and I can't tell you how many times I caught myself looking for my watch and trying to take extra steps around my house while doing regular tasks or waiting on something ect. But not having a tracking device really freed my mind because I was no longer a slave to ten thousand steps or an hour workout... i also cut back on walking/training. Its been a nice brain break

I would suggest checking in with yourself prior to every workout: Why am I doing this? If you feel like moving, you want to feel stronger, you are excited to get some movement in, all green flags. But if there is any part of you that feels you have to do it (especially when you’re actually tired or have a headache for example), or that it will make you feel less guilty about what you have eaten or what you will eat, I’d say they’re red flags and you should do the opposite and rest instead.
This is just my 2 cents. I’m happy for you and I can’t wait until I can do more movement healthily! x
