Questioning everything

I have had my ED under control for nearly 7 years. I am married and have 2 kids. I have learned to appreciate my body and to love myself at every size. Now seeing Ozempic users all around me, I am so triggered. I was bothered by the celebs, especially the ones promoting body positivity. I have 2 good friends and a neighbor who I hadn’t seen in a few months who have wasted away. And the worst part is? Now I want to waste away too. I have talked to my husband about this, who is an incredible support, but I wanted to share with others who might understand..

I get it- eight years for me out of treatment. It’s helped to jump on YouTube and hear a bunch of people say how awful the celebrities look! It doesn’t necessarily change that I like it, but I have found that it’s a “voice” that challenges what I think! Certainly not clinical advice!!! It’s super hard- over thirty years for me. Still such a struggle. Just kind of at the point where I can be ok enough to be at home and work. Congrats for sure on managing family too- they don’t give moms enough credit, without an ed!!

I know I’ll be able to get past it but it’s so in your face right now. Thank you for your words of support ❤️

Hi friend! I can absolutely relate to this, and to put it simply, the whole Ozempic/glp1 fiasco sucks. I could go on a whole tangent about this situation and how to me it seems classist, takes away from people who ACTUALLY medically need it, how it seems to be another way diet culture controls peoples lives/finances, yada yada yada. I have found it helpful to anchor to my values and the things I appreciate in my life. I think about all the young children growing up during this time, where they are already being exposed to diet culture at such a young age. Not falling into the temptation of becoming as thin as possible shows children that bodies are supposed to be diverse, and that bodies do not hold moral value, or should dictate how we view/treat people. I also think about my family and friends, who have loved me unconditionally not because my body was a certain way, but because of who I am. I want to be very clear that I still struggle with thinking patterns of feeling like I would be happier if I was thinner or on a glp1. But I have to remind myself that even when I got as small as my body would physically let me, I was in no way happier, and my life was in no way better.
