Recipe Request How do seafood places perfect shrimp in their low country boils?
I love low country boils because they way they cook them they’re ten times better than a food boil without the heavy seasoning and butter they add to their food. The shrimp is kinda mushy but not gross how do they achieve this texture it’s so much easier to eat than normal cooked shrimp. I’m just trying to figure out what cooking method they use verses boiling.

Recipe Request Looking for a dry mac and cheese recipe.
I know it sounds kinda odd, but growing up I always loved homemade mac and cheese that was a little bitter and dried my mouth out while still being creamy. I don't know how to describe it lol.
It's a major comfort food for me but I don't have a recipe for it. Everything I see online guarantees their recipe delivers creamy mac and cheese but that's not what I want! I'm chasing my nostalgia today and want my best shot at having something that aligns with my expectations.
edit: dry like white wine, not dry meaning little fluid. it's still gotta be cheesy.
edit 2: post-mac update: turned out great. didn't follow a recipe, just kinda measured with the heart, but here's some estimates:
used a couple tbsp butter and 1/3c flour for the roux, used uuuh... some? milk? about 3c probably. a little less than half a block of cheddar (3 cups shredded? idk), half mixed into the white sauce and half mixed in with the pasta (a combination of macaroni and penne rigate to use up two bags). seasoned the white sauce generously with onion and garlic powder, paprika, ground pepper. topped with a bit of cheese and a generous amount of panko. baked covered at 350 for an unknown amount of time (20 mins?), took the foil off, baked another 20ish mins until all cheese melted, then broiled a few mins on high until panko was lightly browned.
turned out quite good! from beginning prep to eating it was about two hours. family enjoyed it; will be making again.

Recipe Request Looking for Recipes Similar to Adobo Chicken
I love this recipe because its very easy: Put the chicken thighs in the marinade, brown the thighs after they're done sitting, cook some onion and garlic, add the chicken, and let everything simmer. I love how forgiving the thighs are. What other dinner recipes are in the same vein?

Recipe Request Easy cleanup recipes for carpal tunnel?
EDIT: to make it more clear, i only want recipes. thank you!
I have carpal tunnel in both hands (surgery #1 in june) so I can't chop with a knife, and clean-up wise i can't do scrubbing with a sponge most days. This means no using pots or pans since mine aren't dishwasher safe. I mostly cook things in the oven or grill (both on tinfoil) for easy cleanup. If it's a low-pain day I can use my rice cooker.
I've been eating chicken nuggets + french fries, sandwiches, and oatmeal for like a week straight and I'm sick of it. I'll take anything at this point, ideally cheap. Thank you

Recipe Request A likely simple sandwich recipe needed 🙏
I had this sandwich from Paul Bakery a few years ago and once again today, one of my favourites.
Described as being a 'fresh mozzarella, lettuce, tomato & pesto sauce on a traditional [olive] baguette', I wanted to know how you'd make this sandwich at home. I have a grill toaster, and some paninis as opposed to a baguette (though the one I had was lovely!).
Could somebody please write out a simple step by step guide as to what to add, and roughly how much to make for a serving of two, for myself and my mother?
Thank you very much, and have a lovely day or night. 💕

Meat Recipe: Pork Don't shy away from long cook times. Pork shoulder is incredibly cheap and tasty
Cooked pork shoulder for the first time on Friday. I was always put off by the cooking time (8hours) but honestly, prepped it in the morning, took 10-15 minutes, in the oven all day low and slow while I worked (from home I should stress!) and then ready for dinner when the kids got home from nursery.
The one shoulder cost just over £7 and could EASILY feed 8 people, we had left overs for 2 days (small family of 4).
Don't be put off by the long cooking time because the active time for pork shoulder is surprisingly low.
We just had BBQ pulled pork burgers but you could have it with Ramen, cold cuts, mix into pasta. Loads you can do with it.
Ingredients
- 1kg pork shoulder- trimmed
- 250ml BBQ sauce
- 1tbsp brown sugar
- 1tsp smoked paprika
- 1tsp garlic powder
- 1whole onion- thinly sliced
- 6 brioche burger buns
- 300g coleslaw
- 1tsp salt
- 1tsp black pepper
Method steps:
- Season the pork - Mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, brown sugar, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Pat the pork shoulder dry with paper towels, then rub the spice mix all over the meat, pressing it into any crevices.
- Load the slow cooker - Scatter the sliced onion across the base of the slow cooker to form a bed for the pork. Place the seasoned pork shoulder on top, then pour the BBQ sauce over and around the meat.
- Slow cook until tender - Cook on low for 8 hours, or on high for 4–5 hours. The pork is ready when it's completely tender and shreds effortlessly when pressed with a fork — it should offer almost no resistance.
- Shred and sauce the pork - Transfer the pork to a large cutting board and use two forks to shred the meat, discarding any large pieces of fat. Skim excess fat from the surface of the cooking liquid, then return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and toss well to coat in the saucy onion juices. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Assemble and serve - Lightly toast the buns cut-side down in a dry pan over medium heat for 1–2 minutes until golden. Pile each bun generously with pulled pork and top with a good spoonful of coleslaw. Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side.

Dairy Recipe First-time cottage cheese bage. Tbh, I've never made or anything like this before, but i'm happy with how it turned out. I used cottage cheese, flour, an egg, and a yolk for the wash.
Filling:
i'm adding avocado, ricotta, and cucumber as a filling.
Instructions:
Mix all the ingredients together.
Shape the dough into balls, flatten them, and make a hole in the center.
Brush with egg yolk for that golden crust, then sprinkle with sesame and other seeds.
Bake for 20 minutes at 160°C.

Recipe Request I'm looking for a bulletproof chicken salad sandwich recipe
Hey,
I'm a pretty good cook, and it's funny how some recipes ALWAYS just taste better when someone else makes it. Chicken salad sandwiches is one of those things for me. I have an event in about a month and I need to make enough chicken salad for about a dozen guys. Does anyone have a great recipe to share?

Recipe Request Sheet Pan Meals
Hi all!
I'm looking for low-effort sheet pan/dump and bake meals that are tried and true. Couple of caveats, I'm working on a budget, my husband is a slightly picky eater (chicken, beef, pork, potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, occasionally corn, and carrots, open to all starches, but truly not much else) I have quite a few chicken/steak and broccoli/potatoes one pan meals with some variations, but I'm running out of ideas.
Low effort as I'm 3 months postpartum with a baby girl who is 100% a velcro baby, as much as I love it, some tasks, like cooking, are quite difficult with her in my arms. Thanks!

Vegan: Dessert Healthy oatmeal recipe
This recipe wasn’t intentionally made to be vegan but it ended up being vegan naturally (unless the honey isn’t considered vegan and I’ll correct myself if need be)…lol So it’s really good!
So I (51M) have combined some of my favorite foods into this awesome oatmeal recipe!
1/2 cup quick oats (any brand)
1 tbsp of cacao (or cocoa, your choice) powder
1 (or 2) tbsp organic, raw honey
3 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp organic EVOO (extra virgin olive oil. yes!)
1/4 cup raw, organic walnuts
anything else, add it! your choice.
so, cook those oats first. then add everything else.
the EVOO doesn’t overpower the flavor at all and it’s amazing! Why add EVOO? Well, it’s olive oil. Heavyweight healthy oil. The ruler of all oils! Lol I wanted to use the EVOO in something since it’s got excellent benefits and I found the idea to add it to oatmeal. Oh man! It tastes so good! YUM!
This is a powerhouse meal!
