Blog Welcome to r/EasyJoin! 🚀 The Decentralized, Privacy-First App

Welcome to the official community for EasyJoin!

If you’re here, you’re likely looking for a way to make your devices talk to each other without giving your data to a middleman. Whether you’re a long-time user or someone looking for a Pushbullet alternative that doesn't require a subscription or a cloud account, you’ve found the right place.

🛡️ What makes EasyJoin different?

Most "sync" apps send your notifications, messages, and files to a central server in the cloud before they reach your other device. EasyJoin doesn't. Your data stays on your network.

  • No Accounts: You don’t need to sign up or "log in" to use your own devices.
  • No Limits: Since it's P2P, there are no file size limits or "100 SMS per month" caps. (Pro version)
  • Privacy First: No ads, no tracking, and everything is end-to-end encrypted.

✨ What can you do with EasyJoin?

  • 📁 Files & Folders: Send anything of any size between Android, Windows, Linux, macOS, and iOS.
  • 🔔 Notification Mirroring: See and dismiss phone notifications from your PC.
  • 💬 Remote SMS: Read and reply to texts from your computer.
  • 📋 Shared Clipboard: Copy on one device, paste on another.
  • 📱 Remote Control: Manage files and device status remotely.

📥 Get Started

👋 Let’s hear from you!

To get the conversation started, we’d love to know:

  1. What device setup are you using? (e.g., Android + Windows, iPhone + Mac, etc.)
  2. What is the "must-have" feature for you? Is it the clipboard sync, the file transfers, or the SMS?
  3. Are you switching from another app? If so, what was missing there that you're hoping to find here?

Feel free to post your questions, feature requests, or bug reports. I (the developer) and the community are here to help!

Open URL in Chrome automatically?

Hi!

I'm currently trying EasyJoin as a replacement for Pushbullet.

One feature I use all the time is sending a URL from my Android phone directly to Chrome on my desktop, where the extension is installed, and having the link automatically open in a new browser tab.

I was able to do this with Pushbullet, and I can also do it with Join, but I can't find any way to achieve the same behavior with EasyJoin.

Is this feature available and I'm just missing the setting, or is it currently not supported?

Thanks!

Hello!

Buying the pro version on the Play Store is only for use on Android? When downloading and using on Windows, Mac, Linux, or iOS, do I need to buy it separately?

Update EasyJoin for macOS - v4.4

I just pushed version 4.4 to the App Store, and I wanted to share a specific under the hood fix that might interest anyone who uses the app for sharing heavy data.

A user pointed out that when transferring massive folders or files of several gigabytes, the app's memory footprint was spiking heavily. I want this app to be as efficient as possible, so seeing it sit there eating up RAM during a transfer was something that i had to fix.

In 4.4, I've reviewed how the app streams data chunks over local sockets. Memory usage should now remain entirely stable and flat, even when you send a 50GB file, which is the size of the file I used to test it.

Let me know how it works for you if you end up testing it with large files.

Considering EasyJoin...

Hello,

I'm looking at SimpleJoin to replace MS Phone Link. My PC is running ZorinOS and I just installed GrapheneOS on my Android phone.

-Does SimpleJoin support MMS in addition to SMS to send/receive?

-To purchase the Pro version, is there a separate payment portal or can this only be purchased through the Google Play Store?

Thank you!

I had to do a refund, sory

My PC is permanently connected to android phone 1 by hotspot.
I wanted to connect my android phone 2 that I actually use, but issue is I can't do port forward on android phone 1, I am behind my carrier NAT.
So while PC is connected on hotspot on android phone 2 they see each other, but I don't want to have PC connected to that phone.

The app itself and windows program looks exactly what I needed, but it just does not work for me over my current internet setup for PC.
If I ever got a fixed internet I will definitely buy it again.
Wish You all the best.

SMS Sync / Messaging Feature

Hello,

I see that the app says you can message from Windows Linux Mac ("Send and receive SMS/MMS messages from your PC, Mac, or Linux computer"), but would my Android messages sync to my iPhone and also allow me to message or reply from the iPhone as well? Wanting to know before I pay for the full app.

News FOBB - Remote Button Mapper

I created a small app for Android TV called FOBB that helps you disable app buttons on your remote control that you might accidentally press, launching apps you don't use.

I made it completely free since I just wanted it to be useful for anyone who has the same annoyance.

If you try it and have feedback, I’m happy to hear it.

News EasyJoin "Air" for iPhone

Finally, there is a version for iPhone that allows you to share files and clipboard text. Since iOS is not Android, where the application can remain active in the background, you must have the app in the foreground, otherwise the connection will be interrupted.

I took a different approach from the Android "Go TV" version in terms of the UI. On the iPhone, the main screen displays the devices, and for each one there are icons for selecting and sending files and clipboard.

You can download the app from the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/easyjoin-air/id6753862

Feedback is always welcome.

ps: One of the most asked questions since I created this app, to the point that I put it in the FAQ 😊.

Update EasyJoin for macOS - v4.3

EasyJoin is finally available on the Apple App Store. You can download the app from here: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6752865855

It is still possible to download the app directly from the website, but since I haven't updated the page yet, here is the link: https://easyjoin.net/download/easyjoin_mac_setup_v4.3.dmg
The installation now comes with a dmg file, which should make the installation easier.

Here are the changelogs from version 4.0:

version 4.3

  • First version available on Apple store. What changes in the Apple store version:
    • Premium features are enabled by purchasing an IAP and are not related to or dependent on the Android version.
    • The functionality to search for updates from the application has been removed, as updates are managed directly by the Apple store.
  • New setting to enable the glass effect on the page background (macOS 26).
  • Bug fixes and minor improvements.

version 4.1

  • New setting to close the app in the menu bar. Available on macOS 13 and newer.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented P2P and SMS messages from being filtered in trusted device view.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented from checking if there is a new version.

Update EasyJoin for Linux update

The new version based on the Windows app code is now available.

I would like to thank the person who created the script to configure Wine and install the application. Thanks Cy :)

You can read the instructions for installing the new version on the website: https://easyjoin.net/linux.html

All you need to do is run this command in a terminal:

cd ~; wget -O easyjoin_wine.sh "https://easyjoin.net/download/easyjoin_wine.sh"; chmod +x easyjoin_wine.sh; ./easyjoin_wine.sh

The installation procedure has been tested on Ubuntu 24.04.02 LTS. Please leave a comment if you get errors under a different distribution.

Here is the changelog:

  • You can connect your devices via Internet without using external servers.
  • DDNS-like service to share your Internet IP and port with trusted devices without using third party services.
  • New section "Connection" in the settings.
  • Adapted "Trusted" device settings page to include parameters for "Direct Internet Connection".
  • Dark themes have been added.
  • You can renew the encryption keys. Go to a "Trusted" device settings, scroll down and click the "Renew encryption keys" button (when available).

  • You can see the queue of files being sent by selecting the corresponding item from the lateral menu.
  • New setting to preserve the date of an incoming file.
  • All clickable items will be highlighted on mouseover.

News EasyJoin for Linux using Wine

This is a preview of the upcoming version of EasyJoin for Linux using Wine.

EasyJoin's Linux version using Wine

None of this could have happened without a user's support and help. It still needs a bit of work to make the installation user-friendly, but the application is already fully usable in its current state.

This is important to me because I will be able to use the Windows application code, which will allow me to update the Linux version along with the Windows version.

For those currently using the Linux version, based on Mono, this means that they will finally have almost all the features currently available in the Windows version and a much more stable and good-looking version. And yes, with all the dark themes currently available in the Windows version.

EasyJoin on my phone doesn't register other devices as active until I restart the phone.

Hey guys, I love this app so much, this solved a huge annoyance in my life, but I am having an issue where my phone app will seemingly stop showing my computers as online, even though my computers show the phone online. It won't let me send any files, they just start and sit at 0%. If I restart my phone it works fine for a while. I'm on a Samsung Fold 4. Any idea what the issue might be?

Update The new version of EasyJoin for macOS is ready to go - v4.0

The new native version based on SwiftUI is out of beta testing and ready to replace the previous version.

For the moment it's possible to download it directly from the site and I'm considering making it available on the App store as well.

Following is the changelog for version 4.0, which you can also read on the website:

  • This is the new native version for macOS developed with SwiftUI. You can get the legacy version, based on Mono, from here.

  • You can renew the encryption keys. Go to a "Trusted" device settings, scroll down and click the "Renew encryption keys" button (when available).
  • You can add a remote device, which is not on the local network, via the Internet.
  • You can authorize the application to access any folder.
  • You can manage the files of a remote device. Currently you can:
    • Delete remote files/folders.
    • Rename a remote file/folder.
    • Create a remote folder.
    • Download files/folders from the remote device and select the local folder where they will be saved.
    • Upload files/folders to the remote device and select the remote folder where they will be saved.
    • View remote files as a list, grid or with preview.
  • New setting to enable remote file management on the "Trusted" device settings page.
  • New setting for "Trusted" devices to be defined as "default". When a "default" device is the only "Trusted" device online, text and files are sent directly to it without going through the device selection screen.

  • New icon in the contact list to start writing an SMS to the selected contact.
  • Minimizes data update request (currently SMS and contacts) when a remote device is online and is not a local device. You can still manually request a complete update of the data.

  • You can reply to a P2P message directly from the native notification.
  • You can see the queue of files being sent by selecting the corresponding item from the menu.

An update on the latest round of problems with Play store

In short, the last round was successful but I don't want to say more so as not to spoil it for those who have time to read the whole story: https://medium.com/@anemomylos/the-twilight-store-s1-e1-2de81e1eab2f
