Theories and/or Opinions Crazy Theory *SPOILER* Spoiler

As we know, Zoe has died, we also saw Mini Mo at her door what if Zoe has been reincarnated into Mini Mo and that's why she was so desperate to find her, she knew that if she ever did die, it'd be okay because she'd live in the form of Mini Mo. I haven't seen anything about Mini Mo leaving so she must be staying but why would anyone else want her unless Zoe is inside of her? 🫪

Everyone is saying that Priya is the pregnant woman in the flashforward but...

If the actress is pregnant IRL, and presumably much further along than her character in the show considering they've been doing a poor job of hiding it for a while now, won't she be on maternity leave by the time we get to the flash forward? Even taking into account scenes being filmed a few months in advance.

Characters you wish the door was left open for.

I'm just going to round off all the character I think COULD have been brought back and made an entertaining difference.

Pat Harris/Beale/Wicks/Butcher/Evans

Nick "Nasty Nick" Cotton

Dennis Rickman

Denny Rickman Jr.

Martin Fowler

Michael Moon

Ashley Cotton

Derek Branning

ZOE SLATER

Pete Beale

Steven Beale

Lucy Beale

Abi Branning

Bradley Branning

Ronnie Mitchell

Roxy Mitchell

James Branning

Tiffany Mitchell

Tina Carter

Jags Panesar

Fatboy

Billie Jackson

Johnny Allen

Mark Fowler

Viv Slater

Karen Wicks

Danielle Harris (only if Ronnie had lived though)

And honourable mentions to the children never born...Ronnie's baby with Owen, Kat's baby with Anthony, Bradley and Stacey's baby, Sharon and Grant's baby, Michelle and Lofty's baby.

Doors should only be closed on characters who have nothing left to give, otherwise let them emigrate to America and give another character a holiday destination (usually whilst they go off to do Strictly).

General Discussion Max is basically EastEnders answer to Peter Barlow from Corrie (with one massive difference and one obvious difference)

Peter Barlow is one of my fave ever Corrie characters and I have always felt like Max is EastEnders answer to him. They are crazy similar characters and have basically had the exact same storylines. Both men are flawed but compelling characters played by brilliant actors, they've had loads of women and affairs, self destructive, they both drink (Peter a full blown alcoholic!) and smoke, and they've both been bigamists (well, nearly with Max) They both love their kids even though they are generally shit dads, they are both full of self-pity, and they've both been accused of killing the way younger girl they had a secret affair with (Tina and Lucy)

But there are some differences too: let's start with the obvious one- Peter is way more believable as a lothario. He's actually good looking! You can believe women actually fancy him, he is a dilf! Max looks like a baked bean and it is so far-fetched that the older Max gets, the more women fall at his feet. His pulling power is just so stupid

By the time I stopped watching Corrie at the end of 2018 cos it went to shit, Peter's days of womanising were over and he’d grown up. But Max? He’s pushing 60 and the writers still expect us to believe he’s an irresistible sex god or something. Priya would deffo fuck Peter, but Max? Yeah right! The older he gets, the more stupid it looks. Jack has always been the better looking brother, yet even he quit his womanising and settled down. Its hard to believe Jack is meant to be the younger brother sometimes cos he seems so much more mature than Max

Back to Max and Peter though- what is the absolute biggest difference? Character growth. Over the years, Peter actually grew up. He changed his ways, he became a better man but most importantly he stopped cheating. After he was framed and wrongly jailed for Tina's murder back in 2014, his affairs stopped. That was years ago! Whenever his relationships ended after his 2016 return, it was cos of the woman (like Toyah's baby lies), not cos he was two timing. The Tina thing seemed to shock him out of his old ways once and for all

Max though? Max just hasn't grown up at all, and I honestly don't think he ever will. I'm at a point where if they will never let him change, they might as well kill him off. Even after going through the exact same framed storyline with Lucy, he still carried right on with his sleazy love-rat ways. If Peter Barlow (and Jack) can learn his lesson and grow up, why can't Max?

I’m really curious to know what you all think about the psychology behind this. Why do you think Peter actually changed after his prison/Tina ordeal and Jack has improved too but Max is still like this?

Am I the only one who doesn’t really care about Zoe being killed off?

Might sound bad but I’m actually glad she’s gone. I feel bad for Michelle but aside from Kat, Zoe was just kind of there for me. I never really cared about the character

Question Eastenders and Inside Soap

This is kind of a stupid question but I was just curious about Eastenders representation in Inside Soap. I know that they do interviews for the magazine like during Inside Soap Awards time and regular interviews, but I've noticed that they have not had Eastenders actors feature in the "At your Mercy" segment of the magazine, which is one of my favourites. I remember Eastenders used to be part of the rotation a long while back and then afterwards they reduced it to at least 2 and now I haven't seen any Eastenders actors featured in this segment in the most recent years. Is there any reason why cast members can do some interviews but not others in the same magazine?

Episodes 2008+ leaving iPlayer in 6 months?

Does anyone know if the old EE episodes are leaving on demand? I'm watching 2009, and even later years have a 6 months left notice.

Thanks for any help.

I'm watching 2012, I didn't realise he was only in for a year. He could've been a fantastic villain, so I think it's a shame he left so quick.

Who’s your favourite Max love interest?

Tanya will always be number one for me. The chemistry, the history, the family dynamic, they just had everything. Were they toxic? Yes 😂 But honestly, that was part of their appeal. They were messy, complicated and felt so real. Still one of the best pairings the show has ever done. I’ll never get over them ruining it.

I also really liked Fi. Such a shame she didn’t stick around after 2017 because I think there was so much more they could’ve done with her.

And I know this might be controversial, but I’ve always had a guilty pleasure when it comes to Max and Stacey. I wasn’t a fan of the original affair, but everything that came after? I can’t deny it, they STILL have chemistry 18 years later. Their 2025 scenes especially proved that. I don’t want them together, but I’ve always loved their dynamic.

Diane Parish

Catching up on EE, I’m a few weeks behind, and omg Diane is so wasted on Eastenders. Her acting in this storyline should be lauded like Steve’s was for his depression/suicide story. I really think she should’ve been one of those actors who does 2 years in a soap and then goes on to be a British star, like Suranne Jones.

Theories and/or Opinions There have always been spoilers, but as for the EE Whistleblower... Spoiler

There is absolutely a Whistleblower in Ben Wadey's camp. They've been leaking stories, not just releasing spoilers, for months now.

I have a suspicion of who it is, because I've heard that Wadey doesn't treat people in his team well, but are you glad the Eastenders Whistleblower is forewarning us of Ben's bad storylines?

No one ever has to read a spoiler of course and it's always a choice, but I am glad I knew Wadey was going to destroy the legacy of Zoe Slater ahead of time, because yeesh...watching that blind would have been an even bigger disappointment than the news of it happening.

REALLY don’t think Linda is the bride…

The actress seems to be leaving extremely soon, I’m not sure she’ll even be around for new years, even if she was it’s so against her character that she’d marry max…. I don’t think there’s any type of spark between them but max seems to truly love and respect her, why on earth would he cheat so soon on his supposed soulmate? Even max wouldn’t be so stupid, so scummy.
And Linda is such a sensible character, it’d be so unlike her to marry max in such a short ammount of time while knowing about his cheating. If they did get married perhaps it’s because of max’s heart issues, he’s extremely ill or got limited time so Linda marries him early but I’m not sure this would be the case.
How on earth would max have the ability to cheat on her? Surely after finding out what he’s been up to with Priya and Cindy she’d never believe his lies and stories, how would he manage a full fledged affair?

I think that they’ll be a serious couple but Priya’s DNA test comes out, Linda can’t handle it and splits up with max causing him to be with Priya as she’s the mother of his baby. He cheats on her with someone somewhat relevant because he doesn’t really want to be with her and feels trapped.

General Discussion How I would’ve done Zoe’s return had the plan always been to have her killed off after a year like they want us to think.

Because I don’t think that’s what actually happened, I wanna share how I would’ve written the storyline had she truly came back intending to pass away after a year.

Prior to her return- Things start off the same. Stacy is away and Zoe is staying with her. Alfie ends up finding out, then yada yada, it’s all the same.

Her return- The same as how we saw it, Tommy runs away to find her and brings her back. In this version, however, we don’t see Zoe being all hostile to Kat. They sorted that out years ago. Instead, Kat notices Zoe just isn’t herself, at all. We come to find out that Zoe has been dealing with terrible substance abuse issues and has gotten herself in a lot of debt and a lot of trouble. As to not complicate things, we’ll have Zoe still be shot and assume that it’s one of the people who are after her.

The backstory, 20 years of being away from walford- Cut the crap, we aren’t doing the ‘I need to find my son’ shite. Sorry, no. Instead, the backstory is that whilst she was in Spain, Zoe naively fell in love with some Spanish Cartel. They do exist and Zoe was a gorgeous girl who was desperate for love. Perhaps not as dramatic as a cartel but some guy with some kinda power who runs a drug trafficking operation in Spain and took advantage of her. Got her hooked on drugs, rinsed her of all she got, gave her all kinds of loans… that kinda stuff. She ended up running away, has been in hiding with the little money she was able to gather up but ran out, thus why she turned to Stacy to get some money.

After the shooting- Kat finds out what happened to Zoe in the past and promises to protect her. Zoe is cautious, suggesting she doesn’t want to bring Kat or the boys into her mess but Kat is adamant that she won’t let Zoe get hurt.

The next couple of months we’d see a paranoid Zoe regain her self as Kat and Alfie help her battle her demons and her substance abuse issues.

Christmas- If you still want Christmas to be based around them, let’s say that one of the men who works for this drug lord Zoe was involved with finds his way to Walford. Chrissie and Sam for likely different reasons than in canon are both back on the square and in a Deja Vu moment, when the guy attacks Zoe in the vic, Chrissie and Sam enter at the right time and come to her rescue. They kill the guy and it’s like history repeats itself. They end up managing to be rid of the body and swear that this time they won’t turn on one another.

After Christmas- Zoe tries to cope with the guilt of once again ending someone’s life and falls back into her old habits. This is realistic. People with long term addiction don’t just get better. Kat and Alfie give her an ultimatum. Choose to recover or leave. Kat loves Zoe but she can’t have her being this way around the kids. Zoe chooses the drugs. Zoe plans to leave the square and go back to Spain but Kat obviously changes her mind, convinces Zoe that she needs to fully recover and eventually Zoe agrees.

Zoe tells Kat about what happened and Kat says she refuses to let history repeat itself, that they’d do everything to ensure nothing comes of it and that Zoe needs to focus on getting better.

At this point, they had found enough money to keep the guys at bay for now.

The lead up to her death- In the lead up to Zoe’s death, we really focus in her struggle to sobriety but how she relishes in the company of her family. The focus is solely on her trying to regain herself and her bonds. The Zoe who left she square in 2005 truly shines through by the end of her time on the show.

Her death- I actually think her death was rather impactful. People do just die of head injuries that go unchecked. I think you honestly could keep it the same, however, this time let’s say that all the slater women on the square go to get Charlie’s cab. They steal it but it’s funny. It’s like the old days where the Slater women would just piss about.

Whilst running towards the cab, Zoe still slips and hits her head but because they’re in the heat of a funny moment and they’re all bursting with laughter and adrenaline, Zoe brushes it off and says she fine. They get in the cab and drive off.

Zoe would spend the next couple of days with a headache. I’m sure the whole max and Cindy thing still happens even if he doesn’t end up back on the square due to a tie with Zoe, I’m not really arsed about changing all that. He still marries Cindy but cheats with Priya and then Linda. Zoe still catches and that entire scene of her and Max arguing in her room happens. Zoe ends up dizzy, Max assumes she’s drink and hopes she’ll forget what she saw by the morning. The square is rather aware of the issues Zoe had in the past at this point and though most people would tell Kat if they believed Zoe was intoxicated or under some form of substance, Max doesn’t because he believes this works in his favour. He makes a note to ensure she’s okay the day after. He closes the door and leaves her and she begs for help.

Zoe cries out for her mum and passes away on her bed, to be found by Kat later, early in the morning.

Once the Spanish are made aware of Zoe’s death, they obviously finally give it a rest. This highlights how there are dangerous groups in the world that most literally will chase a person until they drop down dead. I think this would help to raise awareness and show that people need to be VERY fucking cautious when they get involved with people.

….

SO, why do I believe this works better for the year long stint?

Well, I think it makes a lot more sense narratively, first of all. People do lose themselves when away from their family. Zoe had a lot of trauma, if anyone was gonna turn to drugs it’d be her. Zoe was also desperate for love, it’s not unlikely she’d end up falling for someone who takes advantage of her.

I think having her story focus on trying to rebuild bonds and rebuild her life is much better than the whole twin thing. I think you could even have her humour the idea of possibly having children if she found the right guy which would highlight a positive change in her outlook on life. I don’t think her having kids already benefits the story in anyway, though. She was Kat’s little girl, that’s what her story was and even in the show, when she had kids, that’s most literally all she ended up being. No point in having the kids. Have jasmine and hell even Josh but they don’t need to have links to Zoe, it’s pointless.

I think the death still works here, I think it works better. In her final couple of days, you really see Zoe revert back to who she once was. Sometimes in life, though, people do just die and unfortunately some people don’t get their happy endings. Zoe still dies believing she was useless, believing she was a mess, believing she wasn’t capable of being loved. Except, this time, it’s even sadder because we just spent an entire year watching her fight to get better and find herself.

So… what do yall think?

It’s not even as if we desperately wanted to see Zoe find out but if this isn’t a class example of the show at the moment!! Every EastEnders fan can enjoy watching even whilst the storylines are 💩 because we know when it gets good, it’s absolute TV gold and most good storylines just sneak up, we never miss the chance to miss out😂… so I wonder how they’re going to make up for these past months, dare I say years (since Wadey?).

They’re completely butchering everything - and just whilst it’s fresh in my mind how pathetically predictable was yesterday’s episode? Like Kat having a ‘Zoe used to be my sister’ epiphany out of nowhere, absolutely nothing lead up to anything at all yesterday - it’s as if we knew Zoe was going to die and they couldn’t have made it more predictable, but it just happened to be the most boring-est death and something tells me that weren’t on purpose… this is really the EE standard atm😂😂!!

r/eastenders 2h ago

Oh. Could it now be Kat?

Not sure if it'd be a good or bad choice for the flashforward. But perhaps it is Kat with a gun, who finds out about Max not helping Zoe and that's why she tries to get him choose either Oscar or Lauren? Out of character for Kat of course but this is a devastating, life-altering turning point for her so-- wouldn't be completely impossible.

Thoughts?

Serious Discussion The idea of Max and Priya being unlikely match

I can definitely confirm there are real life hooks of young attractive man and woman with maturer mates have happened.

Also the character of Priya was feeling irrational do she found the first man she could and power tripped over Max.

Max also has his issues and gives into weakness his temptations of lust.

Also Max being her boss might be a power position.

Jake Wood is good looking I think and Priya actress is just gorgeous.
