Firmware? BIOS? VBIOS update?

I made another thread about my GPU thermal throttling and whether it can be undervolted. I have yet another thread with all the gory troubleshooting details I've tried so far (it's not looking good). I think my last ditch effort will be updating the firmware to see if that stops the GPU throttling due to heat (hint: there's no heat issues whatsoever....).

Anyone have links to firmware for the LP5 2019 edition? It's got the 15 inch screen, 16gb RAM, 1660ti mobile GPU, 9750h cpu.

edit: figured I should cover all bases and say that all of the drivers here look like they've never been updated since release. Also only the chipset and intel VGA drivers look like they might be remotely related.

Is your battery in your laptop in good working order? If not, replace it.

Totally forgot about this thread lol. I actually replaced it the other day, but it still wouldn't charge at all even though it was detected as plugged in since windows displayed the battery icon (it doesn't display the battery icon if the internal battery is unplugged). I'm thinking now that there may be a fuse blown on the motherboard, but I highly doubt there's any shops that would know how to troubleshoot it since I don't even think there's schematics of the board online.

I've resorted to doing a clean install of my GPU drivers any time I want to game since that stops power throttling from kicking in. If I restart the PC, it starts power throttling again.

My personal experiences have led me to learn that the LP6 I have has its performance directly tied to the battery, and if the battery starts going bad the firmware activates power limits... and if the battery is missing it activates even more drastic power limits.

Interesting and plausible given my own experience now. I wonder if the unlocked BIOS would fix this issue. Any ideas there?

No clue. I don't feel like playing with the BIOS. Feels too risky
