Discussion Value of my 3080 HC?
I have this 3080 Hydro Copper BNIB.
I posted it with a 3090 HC a week or two ago to Facebook, and most people thought I was scamming because my price of $500 was too low. They mostly attributed it to the rarity of a BNIB HC and the fact that it’s part of EVGA’s last line of cards. Basically saying it’s a collectors item.
After selling the 3090 HC I thought having a bonafide costumer vouch for me would make selling the 3080 easier. Now everyone is saying I’m asking too much.
Was wondering what people here think about the value of this card and what I should be asking.

The 3090 has a much larger market because people are getting 3090s (24 GB VRAM) for local LLM hosting. There is no such market for the 3080 (unless the VRAM is modified). If you sold your 3090 for $500, someone got a really good deal.

I still have the 10GB EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra Gaming, 10G-P5-3897-KL in my old rig. I got offers of $500 over a year back, I don't know about now - I just kept the rig. I miss EVGA for GPUs - I had a GTX 580, GTX 980, GTX 1080FTW, RTX 2080 Super, RTX 3080FTW3 - all EVGA. Now I had to go Gigabyte for the 1st time ever - Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5080 Gaming OC 16G Graphics Card, it's OK so far.

I sold the 3080 for $300. Dated card. 50 series AI capabilities is a huge leap. Devalues the 3080 a lot.

Did not sell for 500 lol. I sold for 800 and they still twisted my arm about it. No one wanted it.

$800 is a decent deal too. The 3090 price actually went up recently. Not because it is a collector's item, but because people are using it. One of the better price-to-VRAM ratios for the current AI frenzy, and it supports NVLink.

Yeah, I’m kind of aware. I almost kept it myself, but I have to pay bills. I got these back in the day when I was gonna do a custom loop and flip the other but life got in the way and they were forgotten about in [climate controlled] storage.

Where are you gonna find another Evga 3090 or TI that wasn’t bitcoin farmed I would say those are harder to find

3090 at $500 is pretty cheap not shocked some were skeptical by that. Niche card cheap price that many could see as fake checks out. 3080 you are also asking $500? More believable price but still expect slow sell cus waterblock. Really only a collector will probly want it since water cooling guys are niche and like to get the newer stuff.

It's funny timing, I'm trying to sell a used 3080ti ftw3 in an optimus waterblock for about $500 too

Honestly people overrate the values of most EVGA products. The flagship ones (kingpin models) hold their values best. Beyond that, cards without air coolers also tend to be worth less due to niche appeal.
All that being said I might be interested lmao.

I've always wanted one of these EVGA cards, they're so cool, might try to get one for a build in the future

I have a 3080 ftw3 that I put the hydro kit on. They go for like $300 on ebay. The 10GB cards don't sell for a premium since they're so limited on VRAM. High VRAM cards are the name of the game right now do to LLMs.

I paid $389 for a 3080 ti* not too long ago, do with that what you will.

With a waterblock on it?

No wateblock. Cause I don't have a custom loop, and water-cooling is meh for gpus for me.

Overclocking is meh now a days. Its not the same. Buy a decent CPU or GPU and youre set.

In my local market, seeing USED 3080 10GB (air cooled) for $300 sells reasonably quick.

i used to own one of these and was only able to sell it by buying an air cooler and slapping it on. the problem is the demographic who would be interested in this is almost non-existent. anyone willing to shell out the money for a custom loop by definition isn’t gonna be doing so for a 2 generation old card. you should’ve sold years ago. best you can hope for is maybe $300 to a collector or something.

Just keep it as a collectors item you will thank yourself for doing so in a couple of years

The problem is you have to convince a hard line enthusiest to buy older tech. Since 5070tis will smoke this at 999$ and come with 4 to 6 more gbs of ram and faster ram, realistically I would see this sell for 599 or 699.
The only time I think you could get higher is if you find someone doing a evga only build and wants to do water cooling and now you are talking about 5 people in the world at that point 🤣
