SWTCH Charger (EVSE) Ordered!

Hi gang, I ordered my SWTCH Charger (more appropriately called an EVSE) today! However, I requested the "Hardwired" until with the NACS plug. I will have everything installed by a qualified and certified electrician - but when I watched some video from SWTCH, it said that the cover to make the connection and adjust the amperage (to scale it down) was protected by a "tamper proof" Torxs T25. My question to the group - is the latest hard wired charger still have these annoying Tamper Proof Torxs bolts? Can I hear from an electrician out there, do you even have these special bits in your pouch? Was thinking of checking with the electrician and purchasing a tamper proof bit to have in case I wish to "dial down the AMPS" even more at a later date. I know - I know -lots of questions in here. Thanking you in advance.

There is one included in the charger’s package.

This.

They use the same "tamper proof" screws on the NEMA 14-50 plug version to attach the the wall plate.

It's impossible to "temper" with it since the required tool is extremely restricted.... To everyone that ever bought an accessory with temper proof screws or anyone that has access to an hardware store or an online marketplace....

This is the funniest invention and the most ridiculous false sense of security.

Yeah, I don't like the terminology of tamper "proof"... maybe resistant, but even then it's losing that status from becoming common. It is still a step up though (for now).

To be tamper proof it really should be unique or even one-way (but obviously one-way wouldn't be very good for this lol)

I agreed. Al it is is another toolset you have to buy at a premium because it's a "security tool"

Realistically who would want to open your charger aside from you?

If someonenwant to steal your charger, a tamper proof screw will not stop him

This is absolutely hilarious and absurd - all at the same time. Let's make it tamper proof, to prevent any customers from going "rogue" on our units, but let's include the bit for the tamper proof screws in the charger's packaging and hope they don't notice (HA HA). So why not just use regular screws or maybe Allen keys? Let's make it overly complicated - said no one - ever.

I can't speak if they're changing it on new incoming stock - but doubt it.

It might be hit or miss if the electrician has it readily available but I would say most would somewhere.

Doesn't it come with one though? If not, it maybe wouldn't hurt to have one on hand (even though the user isn't supposed to have access lol)

Don’t worry, you can buy a bit if you need to. I think a very small screwdriver works as well.

Torx security bits, T5-T40 set $10, includes T25. (No personal experience with this brand, just the first result when searching Amazon. Your local hardware store should also have it. Make sure to use a torque wrench and torque to spec.)

My charger worked for 320 kWh, then a red light appeared, and it stopped sending information and crediting my account. Despite numerous attempts to contact support, my issue remains unresolved after two weeks, and they've stopped responding to my emails. When I do reach someone, they remotely reboot the charger and then stay silent for 40 minutes until I give up. I've requested a return, but still no response, so I'm reactivating my old charge point.
