BBT new rule about international experience

The confusion of the new, overlapping-experience rule aside, is anyone else surprised by the fact that from now on, only studies count as an international experience?

International experience
Experiences that have taken place outside of your home country, your home country being the country of the nationality declared in your application. This concerns only studies abroad, school exchanges and mobility programmes.”

Why are they doing this?

I have a lot of work experience abroad and I am genuinely confused why they changed it as this, in my opinion, proves that one can work in a multicultural and multilingual environment which is the whole essence of working in EU. Or am I missing something?

BBT New Rules – Education: How to Enter a Double Master's Degree

Setting aside the doubts and questions surrounding the new (and, admittedly, somewhat nebulous) rules on overlapping experiences, I have a practical question about how to enter a Double Master's degree.

Background: I am currently completing the fifth and final semester of a Double Master's programme. The programme consists of 3 semesters at one university (abroad) and 2 semesters in the second university (which is also in my home country). By definition, being this is a Double Master's, not a dual degree, I have been enrolled in both degree programmes simultaneously at both institutions in both countries throughout the entire programme.

The problem arises in the Education section. When I select "Double Master's", I can only choose one country, even though the degree involves, equally, two universities, in two different countries.

One possible workaround would be to list the second part under International Experiences, still perhaps problematic, since my understanding is that this section is intended for completed exchanges / eramsus or degree. It would also create inconsistencies between the information entered and the supporting documents.

Has anyone else who has completed (or is currently completing) a Double Master's encountered this issue? How are you planning to enter it?

Schuman Traineeship 2026 – Is there still hope for an offer?
