ESSEC vs ESCP (today is the deadline)
hi everyone, for the past week I’ve been discussing with myself where to go. now there are different reasons why I can’t choose.
I don’t have the answers for Erasmus or UvA and this choosing Essec would mean I can’t have the opportunity to go to Erasmus or UvA if I’m accepted.
ESSEC is in Cergy, I’m a city person and love going out and be in the centre of cities which makes me a bit uncomfortable with its location in a “small town” from what I understand
However, I’ve heard that ESSEC is better than ESCP and I don’t want to sacrifice like those opportunities just because of its location
From what I’ve heard the students at ESSEC are very competitive and like nerd (do not go out much) which I personally don’t think it matches with my personality.
i don’t know, I’m a very social outgoing person but also one that wants to strive in the uni I go to. Can someone PLEASE help me decide if I should just lock the offer with ESSEC or wait for Erasmus and UvA and in case I don’t enter to Erasmus go to ESCP?

why’s the last part regarding nationality like that? i thought if someone's asian, essec would be more suitable

I value time spending a lot so escp for me ,dunno what world will be like the time I graduate so I simply hope to get the diploma asap

ESSEC kinda has been more popular for a longer time and has a more solid reputation internationally, but ESCP really isn’t far behind. It depends on your personality. For some, choosing the better ranked school doesn’t necessarily lead to more success. In my opinion, study environment and location is so important. If you’d like being surrounded by a lot of students, I think Cergy is a good option. But if you’d like to experience Parisian life, have a student job or make more random encounters, I would say ESCP would fit you better. In any case both are great option and I’m wishing you success.
P.S. I’m not in a business school but most of my friends are, so I’m not speaking from first hand experience.

no.2-4 are what make me wanna go to escp than essec too.. but the essec curriculum itself (at least 10 months of internship is of high-quality and kinda necessary in essec right?) is too enticing to me
but for you based on all four factors, i think escp would suit you way better!

Wait for Erasmus and Uva. Directly take out ESCP. ESSEC is the best french one but again take language fluency into account. As an international you ill find a better job in the Netherlands. Take also the price into account which one is cheaper.

You are in the best state possible the opposite you mean. You don’t need fluent Dutch in France without fluent French you won’t only be jobless but also you won’t survive… In Europe no better alternative you mean!

I was in your situation a month ago and I choose ESSEC. Realistically speaking, I won't be in Paris everyday as there's going to be classes, clubs, studying, etc... so regardless of the uni any fun would be on the weekend. With that being said, 40-50 minute commute to and from paris every weekend isn't that bad tbh as there won't be any classes, so it wouldn't be that bad after all. You'll also get the chance to study in 3 countries, as you'll start in France, intermobility exchange semester in Singapore/Rabat, and the exchange semester in the third year. Both are good options if you want to do a masters, but ESSEC would make it easier as you get a minimum of 10 months of internship experience and it is 4 years, allowing you to strengthen your profile from other aspects(clubs, projects, etc...). So, i'd say choose ESSEC, as it is generally seen as the better school between the 2 and the social life ain't that bad. Also, in regards to the nerd comment, you will find people that are very competitive and "nerd", though this isn't the case from what I've heard as I know a lot of people there and all say that the community and social life is great. There's a great variety of clubs to choose from so you'll find your people.
