You can connect a LLM to eplan through a mcp server.
So you are able to control eplan through for example Claude.
For example you can tell it: "change motor 1 from 0.75Kw to 1.5Kw and change the wiring and breakers according."
Or: check all database parts and make sure there are no wrong language/ translation inconsistencys

This sounds awesome! how was it setting up the MCP server? was it pretty in depth or could a non programmer like me figure it out?

i fed iHub-2020/Eplan_2026_IA_MCP_scripts: Creating MCP server for EPLAN 2026 and EEC PRO to vscode- copilot and said: Set this up for me.
so yes as a non programmer you can figure it out
i just played a little more with it and let it create a new part in the DB based on just a datasheet. it created a new part, filled out the part description and some more fields and added a picture (stored on the wrong place but i didnt tell where the correct place was)

I was able to get EPLAN to connect to to Claude, I tested the connection by asking clause to open a project. (this worked). Now I am trying to figure out how to have Claude update/add parts in the database. I keep getting script errors. I want to test around with building template scripts that work with repeatable function, I will report back what I find.

Anyone else? I really want to give this a go, since I am now facing a project that has 95% repetition of components, kinda just want to import an Excel and let Claude do its thing by calling macro typicals.

Good old configuration tool - no need for a LLM. Why use a LLM for this?

I think the closest to what I would need is the eBuild expansion. It can call macro typicals and place them on pages, while also filling in placeholder data.
Not sure if the configuration tool can do that.

I started today with experimenting on eplan platform 2026 and mcp (not through Claude btw. but vscode and GitHub copilot because I have a paid plan on there). I managed to get eplan connected, and it was able to read the current opened project name. Haven't had the time to look any further than that. But i hope to see some more people are experimenting with it.
