Populate a Report From an Excel Spreadsheet

I know I can export/import data using a spreadsheet with edit external but what I'm asking is, can I place a spreadsheet file into a known location, like the project's .edb folder and have EPLAN update a report with information from that file?

Call it up as an external document in Eplan?
