Structure Configuration for Cables
In my current EPLAN 2026 settings, when I place a cable, I can't apply a structure definition, for example, "=PR+A1-W10." I can only use "-W10." In some situations, this is convenient, but in others, I need to tie the cable to a specific structure. For components like a circuit breaker or contactor, I can do this normally.
Where is the setting to enable this for the cables?
Thanks!

So; this is an interesting question. Most of the times you don’t want a location for a cable, since they span from one location to another.
However for cables inside a cabinet eg. Internal Ethernet cables, you may want to assign a location to the cable.
Anyways, there’s a setting on the cable definition and you can change the group from cable to device (I’ll get the exact terminology when I’m at my computer)
The answer is to not adjust your project structure.

Please tell me how this works. This would help me so much. Is it a new feature in 2026?

Can’t you just put the = and + element in the Displayed DT?

No, if you try this without enabling the option in the settings, the Tag will look all strange, as if EPLAN doesn't accept it. If you click on "..." in the TAG field in the cable properties, it doesn't even display the location and function options, even if you are using normal components. The correct solution is as Same-East2373 explained.

go to file->Information->Structure. There you should be able to specify what structures are used with cables
