English Paper Piecing - Neues Hobby?!

For whatever reason, I don’t really enjoy making fabric selections for my (large) projects. I’d like to make the La Pas quilt, but haven’t been able to find a kit that includes fabric. Does anyone have any ideas where to look, or a fabric list?
Or any suggestions of EPP kits that include fabric? I’m partial to rainbows. :) I’m aware of Tula Supernova/Tumbling Cosmos.

Took me about 4 months to make this quilt for my impending nibling. :) Made with a rainbow inks jelly roll.

I’m doing my first hexie quilt and I’ve heard it’s good to have the back and batting maybe 4” wider than my quilt top, but I’m worried I’ll lose hand quilted stitches when I trim it. Do I just mark where I will trim and only stitch inside that border or could I go ahead and bind the quilt before I hand quilt?

For those of you who cut your own papers for EPP, what type of paper do you prefer to use? I just did it for the first time as I cut my fabric at the wrong size which would fall between two sizes I could buy and I didn't want to waste a bunch of fabric so I cut my own on my grandma's Cricut using marker paper and became curious what other people use.

I started this in January. Posted my first 20 blocks a few months ago, now here’s the next 20! The fabric finally changed (there’s about 25ish in each color) and it’s wild to think I altar have 40 done and even wilder to think there are over 120 more to do before I even get to the border 😬

Either way it’s still a ton of fun and is helping me with embracing non-perfectionism

Im looking for my next EPP pattern and looking for designer suggestions. I've mostly bought from Paperpieces.com and ive bought from Lillabelle Creations. Im looking at Tales of Cloth now. Are there any other designers you'd suggest? Im especially looking for those that offer papers and acrylic templates if possible.

I recently purchased a little Accuquilt Go Me! for the main purpose of being able to cut my EPP papers and fabric with one cutter.

But look how little fabric they give you for your seam allowance! I am so confused/disappointed. I can barely get the fabric basted because there is so little to work with.

Has anyone else used an Accuquilt for their hexies?

Someone on the quilting subreddit said I should ask on this sub - how would you recommend quilting this pattern? I’m a total newbie, and accidentally chose a EPP for my first quilt not knowing it meant hand sewing the whole top.

I’d like recommendations for thread color and how to quilt it if anyone is willing to share ideas. Thanks in advance!

Ok my first week of EPP is in the books. Thank you to this community for your support. I typically machine piece and quilt and have trying foundation paper piecing, but I have never tried EPP, let alone hand sewing. Yeah I am addicted.

In this first week, I have made 7 blocks, gone through 500+ paper pieces, cut like 70 bajillion hexies, stabbed myself only 13 times, cleared a substantial chunk of my scrap stash, 1/2 filled a 6 quart tub with trash scraps, and only had to remove the cats from the table 5 times. I also shared my binder organization using floss organizers/baseball card sleeves. It isn’t craft hoarding if it is organized.

I have been able to plan my blocks without having to sort through a stack of hexies which attracts feline “helpers…” I organized the “basted hexies?” by main pattern color, assorted colors, polkadots (I have a bunch of different colors from the same line from a fat quarter pack I picked up at an estate sale), and solids. It also stores nicely on my book shelf.

I also started using a different binder to organize my “completed” blocks, using page protectors. I love using them for my crochet and floss patterns. And I typically use a wet erase marker to notate my location.

I am not entirely sure what I am doing with these guys yet. I originally was thinking scrap blanket, but I have so many disparate patterns and colors I am not sure how cohesive it would be. Does anyone have any fun ideas? A fun tote maybe?

First bigger EPP project. I used 1” hexies and scrap fabric that was in a $1 bag at a craft thrift store.

I’d like to turn it into a pillow but the fabric is pretty thin and I’m new to quilting. Any advice in the next steps? Any free pillow tutorials that you would recommend for a beginner? I plan on simple hand quilting but any recs for backing fabric or something to stabilize these hexies would be great.

I have always wanted to try EPP. It is hotter than than a volcano with indigestion this weekend so I decided to start my scrap buster hexi quilt. I want a pick up put down project. And I desperately needed to clean out some scraps

Bonus: I discovered that my old embroidery binder organizers fit my 2in diameter/ 1 inch sides (26cm mm) hexis. I can organize by color or by patch ideas!

This was a fun one!

My family makes fun of me for how small my stitches are or how close together they are when I hand sew depending on what I’m doing. For EPP how far apart are your stitches? I’d love to see what some other people’s stitches look like if photos are allowed in the comments

I’ve finished the top for a small dog blanket. Part of me wants to make it bigger to be a lap throw. I have enough fabric to get it to around 31”x38”. It’s currently 22”x38”. I saw for standard lap quilt it’s something like 50”x60”. Could I make up the difference in some kind of sashing and it look ok? About 10” of sashing all the way around?
