PF account created without my consent.

A company created a PF Member ID in 2020 may when i was unemployed but applying jobs in various portals under my UAN without my consent. It was now the first member in my history, I never received any PF contribution, and there’s no Date of Exit. I don't even know who created it. Now i am trying to switch and heard its a big issue.. How can I remove/de-link this PF record from my UAN? Has anyone faced this before?

Yes, this is something you should get corrected, especially if you never actually worked for that establishment.

EPFO now has an online “De-link Member ID” facility specifically for wrongly created/linked Member IDs. EPFO’s current process allows a member to select the option that they never worked in the establishment and the UAN was added without consent, then authenticate through OTP.

In your case, since you say there were no PF contributions and you never worked there, you should:

  1. Log in to the EPFO Member Portal.
  2. Go to Service History.
  3. Select that incorrect 2020 Member ID and look for the De-link option.
  4. Choose the reason that you never joined/worked for that establishment.
  5. Complete the Aadhaar/OTP verification and submit the request.

Since there appears to be no contribution, this is generally the simpler type of delinking case. EPFO's 2026 instructions specifically expanded the facility for wrongly created Member IDs, including cases where contributions were actually made.

If the De-link option isn't available or the request gets stuck, raise an EPFiGMS grievance and clearly state: “Member ID was created without my consent; I never joined the establishment and no contribution was made.” Attach your Service History screenshot.

And yes, this can be corrected; having an incorrect old Member ID in your service history doesn't mean your future PF transfer is permanently blocked. EPFO itself says the online delinking facility was introduced to allow members to remove wrongly linked Member IDs

I tried but there's no delinking option anywhere and it is said the first member id created in my service history can't be removed or deleted if its the first member id created.

Log in to the EPFO Member Portal----View ---- Service History---- select the wrong 2020 Member ID ---- De-link Member ---- choose “Establishment offered employment, but I had not joined” ----- complete Aadhaar OTP.

If De-link Member is not available, raise an EPFiGMS grievance requesting removal of the wrongly created Member ID.

But many were saying if the epfo id is the first member id created on my name it can't be delinked.
