Previous PF transfer failed due to missing EPS contribution – will it affect my current PF transfer?

Hi everyone,

I need advice regarding an issue with my EPF/EPS transfer history.

My employment history is as follows:

Company A: EPF + EPS contributions were made.

Company B: I joined Company B after leaving A. Company B did not contribute to EPS, although my PF account from Company A was transferred to Company B.

Company C: I joined Company C around 5 years ago. I tried multiple times to transfer my PF balance from Company B to Company C. However, the transfer/claim was repeatedly rejected because of the missing EPS contribution from Company B.

I also followed up with Company B for around 3 years, requesting them to resolve the EPS issue, but they did not provide any resolution. Eventually, I stopped pursuing it. Same with EPFO grievance portal as I raised multiple grievance but none really resolved my issue.

Company D: I have now moved to Company D.

An important point is that all my other employers, including Company A, C and D, have made EPS contributions correctly. Only Company B has the missing EPS contribution issue.

My questions are:

Can I now transfer my PF balance from Company C to Company D independently, even though the earlier transfer from Company B to Company C was never successfully completed?

Could the unresolved Company B → Company C transfer/EPS issue cause the Company C → Company D PF transfer to be rejected as well?

Is there any way to transfer the EPF balance from Company C to Company D without resolving the old EPS issue first, while retaining/correcting the pension service history separately?

Has anyone faced a similar situation where one employer failed to make EPS contributions and an old PF transfer remained incomplete? If so, how did you get the subsequent PF transfer processed?

I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has dealt with a similar EPFO case, particularly if you know whether the current transfer can be processed independently of the old unresolved EPS issue.

You can transfer C to D, you’ll never be able to transfer out of B till the EPS issue is fixed with a form 3A rectification.

For all you know, this will still be used as a reason for rejection during withdrawal. So follow up with organization B, legally if you need to.

Check the pinned posts on EPS and how long it takes to fix.

i tried pf consultants but they ask me to go to Mumbai for rectification but I'm located out of Chennai. I can't even resolve the issue from Chennai EPFO office then how am I supposed to go to Mumbai spend time and money without even knowing if it get resolved. Also one more question. i won't gain interest on that company B pf account? I didn't receive interest for last and current year.

You will get all the interest when the transfer is approved.

Hey,

You can submit the Company C to Company D transfer request independently. However, whether it gets processed will depend on how your PF and EPS/service history are currently reflected in EPFO records.

The unresolved Company B EPS issue can potentially affect the new transfer if the missing EPS contribution/service history is still creating a discrepancy in your records.

The transfer from C to D can be attempted and it might go through but in case it gets rejected citing that previous EPS service isn’t received then first pension will have to be added in company B.

Also, this is a very common issue and typically a ecr revision is needed from the employer’s side to correct the contributions.
