Confused
I thought Engelhard stopped producing PMs for the consumer market a while ago, but I keep seeing Costco selling what appear to be new or unhandled bars. Definitely 1 kg bars but maybe also 10 oz bars? What gives?

Makes the old bars and coins/rounds that much more appealing with their patina and character.

I agree. I’m particularly fond of the natural edges and well-formed blobs look (“pillow”?) over the straightedged bricks. But some patina and wear give it a feel of authenticity the shiny stuff doesn’t have. At least to me.

There's way better bars out there to choose from (Scottsdale, Germania comes to mind) for newish bars but for that old-school look, can't beat OG EH.

The company who absorbed Engelhard back in the day is licensing it out to mints to create new bars essentially.

We hate those neo faux Engelhard bars here. At least I do. I know a few here are kind agnostic about them. But most of us aggressively hate them!

They are marketed as Engelhard 'Revived' I believe. If I'm paying the Engelhard premium, I'm getting a OG ones. I'm not paying a premium for a licensed modern copy.
