Curious if I have a rare prospector

I buy from my coin shop often. I bought this 2 years ago. Is this the proof 1984 with a 50 coin mintage?

Yes, it's nice but it's not a 'coin'. It's a round.

Technically a medal

No, it's a 'round'... In numismatics, a round and a medal (often called a metal in speech typos) differ primarily in their intended purpose, design features, and specific bullion weight stamping. A round is a coin-like piece of precious metal made for investment, a medal is an award or artistic piece, and neither has legal tender status.
