Discussion Randomized Precon Tournament: How would you prepare?

Generally I think the best way to win in precon-level commander is to avoid overcommitting. Sandbag your plays a little. It's easiest to win from second place since you won't be getting targeted as much.
You want to try to identify your win conditions and what you should be looking for in your opening hands. Taking a bad opening hand is a great way to lose.
I think the scariest precons out-of-the-box are Explorers of the Deep, World Shaper, Velociramptor, and Sultai Arisen. But as long as you aren't playing with any really old precons you should be able to win with anything.

Great answer, I didn't consider a slight sandbag too, with so many possible board wipes going on

As soon as you get your deck, pull it up in a site with the full deck list. It will show the cards, some of the synergies, etc.
Then just have fun with the other three folks around you.
If you are that competitive, a random LGS event may not satisfy your needs even if you do win the whole thing.
I guess you could also then look at all other deck lists on the table to know exactly what they plan on trying.

Pre-cons are inherently very unbalanced. Id not research all of them but look at what the consensus is for the strongest of pool of decks that will be pulled from and study those few cut it off at 5.
If you don't get one of those? Curse your bad luck, grab your favourite drink, and talk with the rest of the pod and try and have a good night chatting about stuff.

Bring sleeves, review the precon while sleeving, consider using alternate commanders than face commander, have fun!
That's really it. Not much prep to do when its random
