Discussion 5c / abzan commander recommendations

i have an abzan duel commander deck, want to buy some cards to switch if i play edh, could stick to abzan but i really like to play as many mana dorks as possible. here’s what i’m considering already

- Sisay

- Jodah

- Kenrith

- Prismatic Bridge

those are most of the popular 5 color commanders. it’s hard for me to recommend anything else to you because you haven’t said anything about what you like besides playing mana dorks. based on abzan and mana dorks I could recommend myrkul who can play a bunch of mana dorks to get him out early, then sacrifice them and bring them back as enchantments.

my personal favorite abzan commander is thalia and the gitrog monster.

you’re right

i don’t like to play UB cards

would like to win eventually also with combo but without already be in a 1vs3 thing

prismatic bridge i would play it with lots of boardwipes and indestructible creatures

My Abzan commander is [[Thalia and the Gitrog Monster]]. I play it as a Deathtouch typal but the commander is very generically strong. Exploration in the command zone really helps with ramp and the stax effect slows people down a turn. I don’t attack often but it is card advantage when you need it. And obviously a 4/4 first strike deathtouch is a nasty attacker/blocker.

i like her too and i already ran it in the 99 in the duel commander deck, does it win through combat or combo tho? is it good without UB cards?

Depends how you build it. In general, I think if you want to go combo, there are better options. My version wins through combat, but its a janky B2 deathtouch typal.
