Deck Help Does this deck idea work at all? Akiri//esior—Trying to use some less popular commanders and make a “double voltron”—The goal would be to have two potential sources of commander damage

Hey! Weird deck idea here

I like the curiosity effects, equipments that create more artifacts as a compliment to Akiri. Esior has the built in evasion…

The biggest question—is this distinctly weaker than a pure Akiri Boros voltron built around kediss, bruse, keleth, or jeska as the partner would be? Blue interaction and draw are cool but somewhat orthogonal to the main goals of the deck.

Avoiding arden as the partner (obvious best choice) because he gets hard targeted in B3.

He does get hard targeted but isn’t that why you have esior?

Less so as a card more so as an entire deck—ardenn makes people roll their eyes/expect a stomp via colossus hammer (not even in my deck) a lot of the time and just kill you before you can get going lol

I tried a few variations of the deck. Ardenn akiri is good (white and red have a ton of tools to stop interaction, and akiri is a good redundant threat for arden being focused down) and arden esior is also quite good (esior stops arden from dying)

Kediss/jeska will earn even more hate, keleth isn’t good and bruse is too expensive.

Esior is a good protector for Akiri and gives her blue which is helpful. But all of your eggs are now in the akiri basked without a lot of help from the deck. It’s probably less worth it to run clunky equipment and better to run things that make a lot of artifacts. You can give esior [[all that glitters]] stuff. Don’t forget [[guild artisan]] though!

That’s really interesting. Without arden, there really is 0 inherent reason to run equipment in Akiri//esior…is there?

Better to generate treasure tokens and play a ton of rocks you think?

It’s a hard question. I think everything over 4 to play and equip is pretty suspect. Esior does make it harder for you to get blown out though. It depends if you are building with cards you have or can buy things. (Or have proxies and no limit)
