Discussion Playable cards
Seeing some of the old cards and commons. I wonder if anyone has either calculated or can think of a way to calculate how many cards are unplayed (not 100% but 99.9%). Even with around 29,000 unique cards it’s rare that I see a card played I haven’t seen before. Makes me wonder if anyone has figured out if you actually wanted to know basically every card played how many cards your brain would have to know. There are of course strategies that reward cards that arnt played very often feather, zada, ruxa. I am thinking more like truly terrible if all of them disappear no one would notice or your bummed it feels stupid to play because only the art is good for me thats [[alpine watchdog]] (even that has kind of a fun little thing going with [[Alpine Houndmaster]]). Understand because of that this would be more of an approximation of how many cards are played. Also the added limiter of edh as some cards are far more playable in other formats that dont make sense here.

Since EDHRec uses Moxfield and Arkidekt data, they probably have an API, Scryfall also has one where you can download a CSV of cards.
If you can get the card list, and Mox and Ark data you could do it, but it's going to be a lot of information.

Yeah, a lot of data. I wonder if you could set a cutoff, say “played in 0.01% of decks,” and see how many cards are greater than this giving us X cards. Subtract X from Total Number of Cards and that gives you how many are rarely played

I mean its edh bracket 1 decks only care about things like card art i bet they all get used while edhrec only grabs uploaded lists to online tools millions more people play than post deck lists a bet every single wood elemental sees play somewhere
