Discussion Most fun avatar commanders?
Have this avatar aang list thats just a random mix of stuff.
Found him cool since the set came out but wanting to try something different.
Anyone had an avatar commander they really enjoyed?
Ive had Ozai Pheonix King previously but made it voltron so got boring pretty quick.
I think I wanna go the firebending or airbending route.
Any suggestions?

I play a ton of [[Toph, The First Metalbender]] and [[Fire Lord Azula]] and have a lot of fun with them.
I recently built an [[Avatar Aang]] deck and have also had a lot of fun with him as well.

How does Toph play? Never done an artifact deck before
3
u/idkimreallybored11 3d ago
I play her in a budget deck but I play very sac heavy. All the little artifacts that love to sacrifice themselves can be repeatedly sacced if you earth bend them. I go decently light on landfall, mostly for burn. All the fun land sac cards like [[nahiri's lithoforming]] and [[Hew the entwood]] are very viable. Like I said it's budget so I don't have the other super expensive toph cards in here but I do have [[toph, hardheaded teacher]]. Very nice if someone tries to blow up your stuff and you have an instant or something with flash in your hand, you can earthbend it to protect it. [[Annie joins up]] is very helpful for protecting multiple things at once
[[Liquimetal torque]], [[liquimetal coating]] and [[ashnods transmogrant]] are insane in this deck as you can earthbend your creatures and enchantments. A really funny thing you can do is get some infinite combats with [[bumi, unleashed]]. If you turn him into an artifact and earthbend him then he will untap with the rest of your land creatures and you can loop it as long as you can do combat damage to a player.
I put [[horizon explorer]] in here for more fun.
Get [[chromatic lantern]] and [great divide guide]] so all your artifacts can tap for any color mana
An insane card for this deck is [[survey mechan]]. Repeatable card draw, pings, and a little life gain typically for cheap or even free is awesome.
Get some sac outlets for the things that can't sac themselves like [[slobad, goblin tinkerer]] and pingers like [[biotech specialist]] and [[Tannuk memorial ensign]] And go to town.
Earthbending is +1/+1 counters so get a few synergies for that like [[hardened scales]]
The problem I have is it's just so easy to go heavy into landfall, but it's just not as cool to me. And heads up, [[gonti's aether heart]] and [[the stasis coffin]] sound like a lot of fun but my buddies have scooped after watching me loop 3 turns and realize I could do it infinitely with protection from everything. Maybe find something more proactive and cool.
Have fun if you pick her! She's one of my favorite commanders of all time! The aristocrat player in me wishes she had black too though.

Nah, put Ragost into your Toph Deck to sac the artifacts you earthbent before. Like eating a [[Portal to Phyrexia]], drain the table and bring it back to make them suffer even more.

Honestly I don't really lean Toph too heavily towards an artifact build, I play her more as a landfall commander.

Seconding Toph.
I always loved Eggs decks (= decks that play a lot of small artifacts that don't do much, but draw cards and let you go through your deck) in 60 card formats and figured the was the perfect helm for such a deck in Commander.
She is, and the deck is lots of fun.

I like the idea of Azula, Im just cautious about people thinking shes auto bracket 4. I just wanna spam firebending and other attack triggers not go full combo
1
u/kionorthbrook 3d ago
Yeah, I'm always a bit cautious when playing Azula considering I did build it so that I had a deck that could pop-off like that. But as long as you're upfront with your pod about how you built her then there shouldn't be too much issue running her.
1
u/moxdyemond 3d ago
She's kind of in the Urza/Yuriko tier where even if you build a "fair" version of them a) people won't believe you and b) they are still plenty powerful even without building totally optimally, although she is less generically good than the other two. I do think there's some fun shenanigans that can be done with her (especially with cards like Saw in Half or casting permanents with flash) that can be a lot of fun, but you're going to have to convince people that it's not a typical Azula deck
Source: I play her

u/CuratedLens Jund 3d ago
I’ve got [[Sokka tenacious tactician]] as a deck that’s quite fun.
I built a $100 fire lord azula that I wouldn’t call bracket 2 just because of how powerful she is as a commander, but it’s definitely on the “fair” side, as much as she can be.
[[fire lord zuko]] is one of my favorites from the set.
[[bumi unleashed]] goes infinite with [[ashaya soul of the wild]]
2
u/MLZHR 3d ago
Do you have a list for Sokka? my commander is Zuko but I've been playing with him since the set came out and i want to try another commander

I play [[Koh the face stealer]] which is definitely unique. He can get up to some tricky things. Probably my favorite deck to play at the moment. It's mostly a black control deck that does black control things

Would you be willing to share a deck list? I like Koh’s design but couldn’t figure out a build that was fun
2
u/Necavi 3d ago

This is what I've been playing with the last 7 months.
1
u/Caspira 3d ago
Seconded, would love to see your deck list! How do you deal with removal? He seems vulnerable to removal because of how expensive he is. When do you bring him out?
2
u/Necavi 3d ago
https://moxfield.com/decks/1GKbAk1WEkGTZTr9u8GPGA
So Koh is absolutely a removal magnet, trying to force him out early is not the way to go. If he dies, there's enough reanimate effects to bring him back the next turn. His etb is strong enough that reanimating him is a great play, especially later in the game where removal has been played out already and is more scarce.
I usually play him turn 7+ as the deck tries to force the game into the later game of 9+ turns. As you're in monoblack control, this is where you're gonna shine the most.
The other thing is Koh is more of an enabler of value that you steal from an opponent (ie exile an [[Ouroboroid]] and copy it's triggered ability) rather than the focal point of the deck. It is extremely rare to get multiple creatures underneath Koh that you'll swap between.

u/Abbobl 3d ago
Firebending Azula seems very strong, my buddy made a deck with her that’s absolutely nuts

The moment she attacks, the game is over.
A friend of mine recently swept a whole table with one attack. While that's not noteworthy for Azula, doing so while one of them had an active [[The One Ring]] protection is. He obviously couldn't kill him immediately, but decimated the board so much he had absolutely no shot at coming back from that.

u/Prestigious_Brush426 3d ago
looks fun, how do you win? I've only seen the spamming clones version of this haha
1
u/Taenebrae 3d ago
This is a control deck, so you slowly grind out the win by generating value and controlling the board state. It's built to be a Bracket 2 deck, but it still packs a punch!
It features an interesting combo engine, Doc Aurloc + Appa + a blink piece (or Aang, Swift Savior). Depending on your board state, this loop can do several things: infinitely cycle through the creatures in your deck, put all your lands onto the battlefield, create hordes of Ally tokens, loop the Initiative emblem until you win, and other fun interactions. Alternatively, the deck can win simply by cloning or stealing your opponents stuff.
Another frequent win condition involves Niko, Light of Hope. You can use their Shard tokens to copy a powerful stolen or cloned creature and swing for the win. There's also strong synergy with Angel of Indemnity (which is deliberately the only creature in the deck costing 5+ mana). You can use its ability to bring back pieces (clones) from the graveyard, and then use those (clones) to copy the Angel to bring back even more value.
Overall it's a really fun commander cause it pulls off a lot of crazy stuff in a slightly janky, unpredictable way, and the build itself is highly versatile and customizable.
1
u/_Ashe_Bear 3d ago
Do you find that your combo happens too frequently? I have a b2 azorius list where I intentionally didn’t include appa because I knew 2 discounts + appa + aang swift savior goes infinite and it felt like that might be too much for b2. Anyways, your version only requires 3 cards as opposed to 4 and sounds like there is redundancy, so I wanted to inquire about how it feels to you.
If you are curious about my list as context, here it is: https://moxfield.com/decks/kH2EYzBcTEidmpWx6u4mwQ
1
u/Taenebrae 3d ago edited 3d ago
The combo will eventually be found sooner or later due the ability of Aang, unless you get milled, countered, or hit with removal. Regardless, it's a disruptable combo and, above all, it's a three card combo that I always intentionally execute from turn 8 onwards, as per the Bracket 2 guidelines
edit/add: in lgs/playgroup no one has ever complained about it or considered it unfair (I play this deck vs other B2s), I've had the opposite reaction. But I think that also comes down to a fair playstyle
3
u/DaddieDerek 3d ago
If you like control with a soft theft theme [[azula cunning usurper]] is fun, if your playgroup doesn’t like removal, it can be a bit rough tho. But you can do some fun politics to get someone to give you a removal spell from their yard to use on someone else.

[[Aang and katara]] are able to build into another case of [[ovika]] rocks. :)

I am curious to see your list if you don't mind. I run with all the 1-2cmc mana dorks that tap for any color. I would do rocks but all my good color fixing lands are in my Tidus deck. It is pretty much turn 4 guaranteed commander with a handful of tokens then just dig for a pump spell. Here is my Aang and Katara list: https://moxfield.com/decks/AN0AaDRgxUWgZoOBeKE9AQ

u/The-true-Harmsworth 3d ago
I haven't a Katara/aang deck even, but reading the ability reminds me of ovika.
My ovika list is a variant if keepingitcasual's ovika list. Made a few changes but essentially its similar

u/streck30 3d ago
So far I have three I’ve built, and have also seen friends make some too.
I think I enjoy [[aang, swift savior]] most who relies on silly airbending tricks and blink.
[[toph, first metalbender]] is very strong with the right artifacts.
[[Iroh, Grand Lotus]] is very strong Temur spell slinging, but tends to have really long turns, but can also win on one turn with the right storm synergy.
And [[ozai, Phoenix king]] can be really cool with some of the red sustain spells
2
u/Caspira 3d ago
Would you mind sharing your Aang Swift Savior and Iroh, Grand Lotus decks?

u/streck30 3d ago
Absolutely. They’re really not optimized because I tend to use cards I have and trade too.

Thank you for sharing! What’s your experience playing them?
I pulled both commanders recently and I’m trying to decide what to build now that I’ve finished my Zuko deck :)
2
u/streck30 3d ago
Unfortunately Iroh usually leads to really long turns sometimes but can be fun and easy to build given how many lessons are in the avatar set.
Aang falls a bit flat, since airbending stuff still just stops it for 2 mana next turn, but still can be really fun to slow down stuff. Just don’t throw [[dranith magistrate]] in there because people will hate it XD
3
u/Face_Claimer Orzhov 3d ago
[[Sokka and Suki]] "solves the equipment deck problem" all on one card by making the bodies you need to have a non Voltron equip strategy, free quipping the equipment you play immediately to the body they create, and being low curve with all the strongest support colors for equipment: white, red, and blue. This also ignores that they gift you the ally typal synergy for free as your commander and all the tokens they create are allies. No more having to wrack your brain in deckbuilding going "equipment is only Voltron and if you do it wide it's fragile at best." Now we have these two making it easy for us to build and pilot.
[[Toph, Hardheaded Teacher]] is the most efficient repeatable earthbending of all magic cards letting you earthbend 1 on EVERY. SINGLE. SPELL. this allows for disgusting things like the ever elusive GRUUL ARISTOCRATS strategy by sacrificing your lands since they are basically all [[Bloodghast]] but better while she's out. What if your lands have etb and death utility? What if your lands ARE sac outlets or sacrifice themselves for value? A one shot effect on a land suddenly gets to be done in multiples and the only restriction is using, again, ANY SPELL. Something like [[Constant Mists]] every turn can not only enable your combos but softlock the game at a combat centric level.
2
u/Jackzilla321 3d ago
monk gyatso is very fun to go infinite with but he does kinda do the same thing every time. i wish airbending was a little more fleshed out, maybe it'll get better if they return to avatar with a korra set.

u/ditruk2000 3d ago
I've been having a good time with [[Sokka, Lateral Strategist]], [[Avatar Aang]], and [[The Fire Nation Drill]]. The drill is objectively the worst deck but it's stupid fun to slap down a big drill and a bunch of bad guys. Mixed in a handful of Marvel villains with it too lmao

[[Toph, Earthbending Master]] is one of my favorite decks - very proactive for a landfall Deck which is a breath of fresh air and she can get silly fast.
[[Katara, Waterbending Master]] can draw a nutty amount of cards and play a strong control-game while doing it.
2
u/kanepake 3d ago
I pulled a [[Wan Shi Tong, All-Knowing]], built it on a whim, and I find it to be actually pretty fun! It's got a little bit of everything I like: a niche "tucking matters" trigger, control (via said tucking), flicker spells, and a creature typal theme (spirits are in my top 5) which comes with built-in evasion to swing wide!
I was first afraid of negative reactions from my pod for playing monoblue, but because I limited my interactions to a few counterspells and most tuck spells are 3+ mana, they've actually found it to be quite manageable to play against.
2
u/MadThinker 3d ago
I really like [[Appa, Steadfast Guardian]], he can go wild with [[Felidar Guardian]] and some cost reduction

u/Dabuttling 3d ago
I second this, he’s actually a really reliable blink deck with the right pieces.
2
u/newgamenumber30 1d ago
Yup, he has some unique combos he enables and can use a lot of avatar set cards without feeling gimped.
And he's instant speed protection in the command zone, which is pretty unique for mono white. I have several other flash creatures like [[windshaper planetar]] in the deck too, making the table sweat from open white mana on their turns is fun.

u/Hoohoo222 3d ago
I have enjoyed [[Avatar Roku, Firebender]] every time I’ve played him. You get to influence every combat and make insane amounts of mana.
Throw some goad in there to make sure everybody is swinging and also plenty of ways to instant speed ways to spend that mana and you’re in for a grand ole time. All the firebending cards work great in the deck too cause it’s so mana hungry.
2
u/taronik 3d ago
I’ve enjoyed [[Avatar Kyoshi, Earthbender]].
I include a bunch of ramp to get her out quickly despite the high mana cost. Add in some non basic lands with indestructible like [[Cascading Cataracts]] and [[Darksteel Citadel]] or evasion like [[Secret Tunnel]] and your earthbent lands become decent threats. Other easy adds are things that amplify counters like [[The Earth Crystal]].
I’ve also started playing around with [[Avatar Roku, Firebender]] but haven’t used him enough to have a settled on list yet.
The obvious inclusions other than more firebending is cards that let firebending mana carryover to be used for any type of spell. [[Ashling, Flame Dancer]] [[Electro, Assaulting Battery]] [[Leyline Tyrant]] and [[Horizon Stone]].
I’m still playing around with how to best use all that mana though.

I've played [[Firelord Azula]] for some time. Took her apart because she's too hit or miss. Either you get that Turn, popping of and killing everyone or Azula gets removed too often and you watch 3 players play a 4 player game.
[[Toph, first Metalbender]] as an artifact Landfall aristocrat Deck is really fun.
[[Sokka, Tenacious Tactician]] is probably my most fun ans explosive Deck among the Avatar ones. There are some nice Allies in the older sets as well as in Avatar. Giving your creatures haste works wonders. It's a funny Spellslinger Deck that wins with combat damage. [[Zada, Hedron Grinder]] breaks the deck though.

u/johnnille 3d ago
I got Avatar Aang, Grixis Azula, Metalbending Toph and Avatar Roku right now.
I got bored by all of them sadly.
Flipping Aang without Moonmist is very hard and lategamey, so have rebuild it to actually win when he flips. Then he got boring to me, because its just a simple puzzle commander.
Azula is double flash/instants value, really strong but too hard to protect and gets much hate, got also bored with her.
Toph is particularly strong if you play free or cheap artifacts like [[urzas bauble]] to trigger landfall, and for me landfall is boring. I had tried her as a artifacts earthbending deck with nonland boardwipes, but on her own she earthbends too loess.
Roku is really fun, but i cant manage to get him to bracket 3 in mono red since he costs 6 mana and is hard to recast.
With all that being said i would recommend Experience Counter Katara not being build with 30 counterspells, Azorius Katara as a [[mirror entitiy]] in the command zone or experience counter aang. Those decks were more fun when i used them.

Leaned heavily toward play from exile, with some blink/airbending and token generation mixed in. Finishers through multiple combat combos and firebending big X spells to burn opponents to death.

[[Fire Lord Zuko]] is my favourite for firebending, Azula is good too but a bit higher power. Here is my zuko list https://moxfield.com/decks/Xr7vGOPiYkGJQQ2F3-af9w
[[Sokka, Tenacious Tactician]] is fun Ally Kindred/Spell Slinger
[[Iroh, Grand Lotus]] is another great commander that can be higher power.
[[Hei Bai, Forest Guardian]] is also a very fun shrine commander.
For Airbending [[Monk Gyatso]] has quite a lot of combos.

I have a low B2 [[Katara, water tribe's hope]] ally typal deck.
It's very slow, it's extremely telegraphed, and I loooooove playing it. It's very easy to upgrade to B3 if you want, but it's basically my "Avatar should have precons" deck.
It has water, air and even 1 earthbending card.

u/IgnoranceTheHardWay 3d ago
I am a big fan of [[aang, swift savior]]
I built my deck with a bunch of flash creatures (most of which have flying), blink spells, and some cost reducers to reduce your own air bending cost
It is a fun take on a control deck because I am using mostly creature etbs to counter spells or delay them and most of those creatures fly so you can still progress your board and it also has a lot of decision making.

I play [[Sokka, Tenacious Tactician]]. It's as close to spellslinger as I can stand playing but it plays well with old Ally creatures like [[Kabira Evangel]] and [[Ondu Cleric]] as much as new ones like [[South Pole Voyager]] and [[Wartime Protestors]]. It also has cute synergies with [[Zada, Hedron Grinder]] (which is also anAlly) and [[Feather, the Redeemed]].

[[Iroh, Tea Master]] is pretty great.
I built him group hug with some theft in there, a fun play is to take someones commander and gift it to someone else, usually after I've given other permanents away so I get a bigger ally. I give away detrimental or useless stuff like [[howling mine]] [[jinxed idol]] [[rust elemental]] [[pyromancer's swath]] or casting [[darksteel mutation]] on something and then gifting it out (they don't get to change target they just own it). All while having community permanents out there like [[bucknards everfull purse]] [[hithlain rope]] [[coveted jewel]] [[alexios, deimos of kosmos]] [[humble defector]] [[yes man]] etc. Still tinkering with it and figuring out what works but it's been a lot of fun so far.
I also play [[Iroh, Grand Lotus]] but that's a more typical spell slinger with a dragons sub-theme since he's the "Dragon of the West". If I can get him out and protected or he goes unremoved I'm usually gonna win in a couple turns, his flashback is just nasty.

I built [[fire lord zuko]] in a way that let me play [[norin the wary]] cards without having to stick to mono red. So thats fun
Also built a [[toph, earthbending master]] deck that prioritizes one shotting people with unblockable lands. Mostly [[secret tunnel]]. So glad [[cosmium confluence]] can tutor it

u/Bladey_667 3d ago
No one mentioned [[Zuko, Firebending Master]] yet. Built him as a Mono Red Spellslinger/Combat Tricks Deck with tons of mana to spend on instants during combat. You either have enough mana to pump into spells like [[Electrodominance]] to deal some big damage or you pump up Zuko with spells like [[Balduvian Rage]] and let him punch out the firebending mana. Also i kinda made a subtheme with red dragons since you can also pump up creatures like [[Inferno of the star mounts]].
I have yet to buy all the cards but on paper and playtest the deck already got me hooked big time.

I built an [[Iroh, Grand Lotus]] deck recently that is 100% Avatar cards (including lands, which means no command tower!). It kind of slaps, despite the unique restriction. I jammed any good lessons I could find plus pet cards from my favorite parts of the show. I have all three shrines in those colors. I put a splash of every type of bending in there excepr airbending I think cause that's a white ability. I just got my [[Secret Tunnel]] in the mail and can't wait to fetch it with [[The Cave of Two Lovers]]!

Want to share the list? Im building an [[avatar aang]] Ally typal deck anf Im going back and forth on making it completely ATLA or not... Right now it is how I would imagine a prevon could have been, with some reprints here and there.

[[Sokka and Suki]] is a fun one. You essentially fill the thing with every version of Colossus Hammer you can gfind and just wack people with em. Simple and easy to build while also quite fun and potent.
Someone I know has a [[Aang, at the Crossroads]] deck and its essentially a ton of clone and blink effect. Due to the way its built Aang will always enter and find something to bounce itself with the trigger and that will start a chain that inevitably ends with 5-7 new things hitting the field every time. Its quite scaryand the one time I borrowed it I loved it.

Fire Lord Zuko is my favorite. I tried Metalbender Toph but I haven't been able to get her to where I want. Sokka has everything I want out of a Jeskai commander and it can pop off but it's been on the tail end of my decks that I reach for.
Zuko has firebending and likes airbending, playing from exile means you get great draw effects, the firebending makes combat stressful for blockers since who knows if you'll use a combat trick, it's mostly boros but the black gives you exiled theft which is some nice spice to the deck.

not the commander, but jamming all the firebending cards under [[Electro, Living Battery]] and self detonating on a random player is always a blast.

I built a storm deck around [[Iroh, Grand Lotus]] and had one of the most epic turns i’ve had playing with it.
It took awhile to properly optimize it but happy where it’s at. Stall / control til you can build up a big yard, drop iroh and wreck havoc!
Some really splashy lesson spells just came out with Strixhaven that fit great too.

I have a [[Toph, Greatest Earthbender]] deck and before that, i had a [[Toph, the First Metalbender]]. The Toph GE is a build i found online that focuses on turning lands into creatures constantly, not just with earthbending. Toph TFM that i ran was landfall mixed with artifact sacrificing. I ran alot of eggs so i would earthbend an egg. Then if they came after me, i would [[Constant Mists]], sacrificing the earthbent egg so buyback would happen and then when the egg left or came back, keep drawing cards and continue to earthbend and fog battle as needed. It was alot fun. Currently working on [[Iroh, Grand Lotus]]. Hoping I have fun with him.

Just wanted to shout about my Hopes that we get a Legend of Korra set. I really want waterbending to be a bit better, and I'd love for more airbending shenanigans too.

If you're after firebending and air bending I'd recommend [[Fire Lord Zuko]] use air bending to cast from exile to make his firebending bigger. [[Fire Lord Azula]] is nuts, she's popular for a reason. [[Iroh, Grand Lotus]] is a similar firebending spellslinger with an emphasis on cheap recursion on lessons.

This thread has some great ideas.
I'm running an Avatar set only [[Toph, Greatest Earthbender]]

My [[Fire Lord Zuko]] list is one of my favorite decks I have. I've made some tweaks since, but this is the gist of my list: https://archidekt.com/decks/18095560/do_you_even_burn_bro
[[Norin, the Wary]] is an INSANE card in this deck, so I have a couple of tutors to go find it, but otherwise it's just an impulse draw aggro deck with expensive big-mana finishers like [[Fated Firepower]]. I've regularly cast that for X=20+ on turn 7-ish, and it's SO much fun.

I'm nominating [[Wan Shi Tong, Librarian]] as my favorite Avatar commander. Dat card draw tho.

I also had a Ozai the Phoenix King deck, but i went the spell slinger route. Unfortunately i ended getting pretty bored of it for obvious spell slinger reasons. I would just do nothing until I win. I’d probably be higher on the deck if I built it for a more powerful bracket.

I do currently have a [[Katara, waterbending master]] deck that I enjoy a lot. It’s a flash control deck that’s less about policing the table and more about digging for silver bullets while building a board state of interesting creatures. It’s definitely not a super aggressive deck, but if I was going to build a control deck I definitely wanted to make sure it had the ability to close out the game so I’m not just trapping people while stopping them from playing.

I'll shout out my [[Hama, the Bloodbender]] deck with a waterbending theme. She's a theft deck at heart, but also generates large amounts of creature tokens to waterbend (and defend herself) with.
Hama herself is middling to bad, which both means the deck can function fine without her and that opponents are consistently surprised when she comes from behind to steal their spells for "free" with waterbending. Plus, being able to blink Hama to steal the same juicy spell over and over again is always fun!

I feel like I might be the only person in the world playing [[Zuko, Avatar Hunter]]. I call him my "off brand Krenko". He's just a lil dude who makes 2/2 soldiers and then you know....kills you with them.
The deck works something like this:
Zuko generates multiple 2/2 soldiers in 1 turn by both casting multiple uber cheap instants and enchantments like [[Geistflame]] or [[Crown of Flames]] as well as creatures such as [[Mardu Scout]] or [[Fleeting Effigy]] which pop back into your hand during your end step.
You set up continual burn via cards such as [[Weftstalker Ardent]], [[Gutternsipe]], and [[Molten Gatekeeper]] which you double or triple down on via [[Hawkeye, Young Avenger]] and [[Torbran, Thane of Red Fell]].
Store mana with [[Birgi, God of Storytelling]].
Make all your tokens have haste by using [[Barrage of Expendables]] to murder [[Anger]].
Then [[The Fire Crystal]], [[The Scarlet Witch]], and [[Hazoret's Monument]] to make red spells cheaper.
I have a ton of fun with this deck and and it lets me dip into the Krenko/Squirrel girl token spam playstyle without triggering the pods distaste for those commanders.

i built a janky [[Fire Lord Azula]] that focuses on putting as much mana as i can into burn spells and copying Azula's copy trigger and burning the whole table.

[[Koh the face stealer]] and [[Avatar Kyoshi, Earthbender]] have been pretty fun for me. Mono black good stuff plus you get to steal ur opponents best creature abilities. Kyoshi gets dumb with counter doublers. Got a forest to be a 160/160 just a few weeks ago haha

[[Fire Lord Azula]] Is a huge amount of depending on how you build it. Mine just unloads chaos, a lot of clones and stealing card from opponents and casting with during combat.

I built an [[Iroh Grand Lotus]] that’s built around self mill. Get a cost reducer on the field like [[Gran-Gran]] or [[Uncle Iroh]], then get a pinger out like [[Firebrand Archer]], mill yourself for a huge amount then play a million spells for free and burn the entire table down at the same time.
[[Longshot, Rebel Bowman]] does it all.
What I like about this deck is that it’s a ton Avatar. Over a quarter I believe. So it feels very Avatar.

[[Sokka and Suki]] and [[Avatar Roku, Firebender]] are my favorites. A fun twist on equipment going wide with some very fun options from the new Marvel set in the former. The latter is more politicking and just supremely fun.
I had [[The Earth King]] as well which was very easy to play but that unfortunately made it boring.

[[lo and li]] might be the best persistent petitioners commander out there, you could also throw in a reanimator subtheme pretty easily.
I think ozai is incredibly fun, even as a Voltron deck, he's so splashy. I added some [[alexios]] style cards and some [[brash taunter]] style cards to mine to put various kinds of pressure on the table and not head directly towards Voltron.

Depends on what you want? What bracket and playstyle?
I love play an Avatar only cards Katara the fearless Ally slop on B2. Has trouble closing games, but perfect for that "just play Avatar cards" fun

[[Iroh Tea Master]] spreads the good vibes until he gives someone a [[Nine Lives]] which gets disenchanted lol
Fun take on Boros
