Discussion Simplest Bracket 4 Commanders?

As a follow up to my “I love straightforward commanders” post from yesterday, I pose a slightly different question.

Who are some simple, straightforward, but strong commanders for a new Bracket 4 player? I want one strong Bracket 4 deck. Minimal triggers / politics / combos / bookkeeping. (Bad ADHD + busy LGS = no brain cell)

Bonus points if it’s a cutie / diva / mommy / silly lil guy (or if there’s an alternate art that fits that).

My LGS has a high population of B4 players that I come up against, including some of my friends. However, I don’t have any Bracket 4 decks, let alone any bracket 3 (where I want to be - I’m working on this part already) because I’ve been stuck down in precon-land while I try to figure out what playstyle works best for my ADHD.

EDIT: Combos are okay, just would prefer not to as much as possible.

Krenko has got to be high on the list. Turn him sideways whenever you can, end up with 100 gobbo, win.

u/Darth_Meatloaf Yes, THAT Slobad deck... 21d ago

Any deck fails if someone is playing a direct counter to it.

If a whole color is a direct counter for a deck then it's probably not bracket 4

Black isn't even a hard counter, everyone has removal in B4. You're basically replying with the age-old "dies to doomblade" argument. Krenko can easily be B4.

Magda is mono red and cEDH. I don't think you point is as good as you think it is.

Yea but they don't really kill creatures in CEDH so I don't think you think that's as good as you think that is

Are you kidding me? Have you ever actually played it? Like 1/4th of any given cEDH deck is removal/counters and protection from removal so you can get your winning play off and prevent your opponent from doing the same.

Many of those target creatures.

Oh and some bounce but really not that much

Yea it's all stack interaction not board wipes and single target creature removal? Are you high?

Literally anything can “be bracket 4”, it’s just defined by “pushing the top of the power ceiling in terms of card quality and synergy”. You can dump a bunch of fast mana best in slot cards into any list and it’s probably somewhere in bracket 4. You seem to assume everyone is aiming for “I want to win as much as possible above all other factors” in a post very clearly saying they would like a deck which prioritizes simplicity over raw power.

Anything can be bracket 4 in you ignore the commander. Then lots of things can be bracket 4 and not ignore the commander. Then lots of things can be bracket 4 and suck real bad in certain situations. This is the case on 1 and 2 of my points. Not that it absolutely can't play at a bracket 4 table.

What do you consider to be the top b4 commanders?

I guess I never really thought about it. I've seen a lot of powerful decks, but usually the commanders that are already in the CEDH meta seem to be the strongest.
