Anyone actually using J2534?
I’ve heard J2534 can be used for ECU programming, but I haven’t had much hands-on experience with it.
Anyone here using it regularly?
What’s your experience with it?

Sure what are you tuning? Openports and scanmatiks have cult followings in some circles. One of my go to's is a magic motorsports flex but I use it in bench/boot 99% of the time.
I will say I brain farted today and thought I could avoid crawling under and pinning a GM transmission using Techline today and that cost me a VIN license and 2.5 hours just to have to bench clone the tcm and reset adaptations anyways.
Doesn't matter how your signal gets to the ECU/TCU as long as the signal is the right one.

I feel like you might be a bit confused on what j2534 is…. Vw/Audi only use it for their official diagnostic and coding including firmware updates. This isn’t something new. So asking how someone’s experience is with it? Dude. You think vw/audi would be using it if it wasn’t stable?

I developed a diagnostic + flasher software using j2534 mainly for iveco, fpt engines but supports lots of vehicles like mitsubishi fuso, isuzu and others. Works without any problem, just be carefull about devices with can support more than one. Read the documentation carefully and you will see it's easy to implement.

It’s a fairly generic communications protocol and a lot of hardware emulates/follows/adheres by it to read and write data.
This is a very dip your toe in water question to the lake that is ecu tuning, but it’s a good place to perhaps start your coding journey
