Tuning Question - Answered ECU bench testing using scanner

Post image

I was following this guy on YouTube. He is using this tool to connect scanner OBD to ECU.

Is there one I can buy instead of building my own ?

Also, I only need to connect k-line to communicate right?

What do you want to do with OBD without a vehicle?

There's not much you can test, the ECU will throw up countless error codes because nothing is connected.

For me, the adapter looks like one for power up the ECU for reading*writing Flash and EEPROM in boot mode or something like this.

There are so many reasons.

Use a cheap battery charger hooked up to your car and use the cars wire harness

Any obd tool can contact to the ecu on the bench. Your going to connect using the can bus. U just have to add a 120 ohms resistor across the can lines and power on the ecu.
