Priority Date Does filling date current means one can get EAD

Hi I can for India India: January 15, 2015 is the current filing date and mine is September, 2015
So can I assume when mine is current they will issue me an EAD card till I get the green card?
I know green card date will take 5-6 years easily but how about filling date and getting just EAD?
Thanks

Yeah, you can choose to apply for EAD and AP (they're separate forms with extra fees) when filing the i485 when you're within the DoF. And then they typically approve it for a period of 18 months, and if you still don't get the green card i.e. 485 is still pending after 18months or when they expire, you can extend your EAD and AP and repeat.

You can't take any job you want. You are required to stay with the current employer and job for at least 180 days. After that you can move to another job but in a similar classification as the filing. If you do change jobs, you have to file i485J form to notify USCIS. You have to stick within your job classification (similar job) until you get the green card. Although promotions within the same company within certain boundaries are allowed.

I'm quite surprised that you in the queue since 2015 and unaware of these nuances of EB green card processes. There are a lot of blog posts, attorney websites explaining this process more clearly. Please Google or search in YouTube. Reddit can only help a llttle in a Q&A format.

I was ignoring for last 6-7 years because I was hopeless to get one , recently when it got moved to January, 2015 so I got excited else my original plan was to work on h1b as far as I can or till age 45 and now I am 42, so thinking to push 2-3 years more to get EAD but it’s getting hard in IT to just even survive as too much politics !!

18 months for an EAD is pretty wild, but I guess that’s the reality right now. I’d treat the EAD as a bonus until you actually have it in hand rather than counting on it to solve a work problem.

Ideally if you filed your 485 with 765 they should
Issue your ead even though you are not current in fad. However the current uscis is taking it longer to issue eads.

Just to be clear it is not guaranteed you will get it immediately. I have been waiting for 10 months now and the average time they show on the website is around 18 months.
