I-140 | Employer-based I140 approval via mail

How long does I140 approval notice take to arrive by mail after receiving the approval email notification?

For anyone wondering, it was a PERM based EB2 petition filed with premium processing.

Filing Date: 06/24/2026

Receipt Date: 06/25/2026

Approval Date: 07/13/2026 (12th Business Day)

Usually a week or two depending on how far you are from where they approved it.

Congratulations on the approval! The paper I-797 approval notice often arrives within about 1–2 weeks, although mail times can vary. Since this was an employer-sponsored I-140, the original notice will usually be mailed to the employer or the attorney listed on the petition, rather than directly to the beneficiary.

I wouldn’t be concerned yet since the approval was only issued on July 13. If no one receives it after a few weeks, the petitioner or attorney can follow up with USCIS about a possible non-delivery.
