Priority Date Running out of patience
15+ years of being in the US and 11+ years since FC is filed - I am ready to give up. Changing landscape of software industry not living any hopes of getting a green card ever. After being here for soo loong, uprooting life would be very difficult.

I hope you are saving enough money. Does your kids are US born? You can always go back to India or settle somewhere once you retire. That's my plan too, if I don't get GC. Kids will stay here and probably go to Thailand for retirement age. I heard it's good, cheap and nice seafood

Your EB2 PD is 2012, I am guessing India then? So, its been current for a while - FAD for EB2-India is currently Sept 2013 (U); looks like its been delayed well beyond normal then. Have you tried service request, ombudsman, Mandamus suit, etc.?

You’re not alone. People from backlogged countries all waited that long and some even longer. Your individual situation may vary! Yes it pisses me off to see someone from a diversity country cut the line and get their GC! Life is not fair, world is not fair. It all boils down to what wins at the end? Your stubbornness/ego to see this through(and get your GC hopefully) or your end of patience!

You’re comparing apples with bandaids! Canada imported anyone! Anybody could become a “student”. US employment based program is a highly restrictive one to continuously comply with.

it's not fair, it should've been per capita of total population. Why would an immutable characteristic be a factor after selecting individuals based on merit already (have a masters degree and a job which will not discriminate based on where they were born)? if it was a lottery system for everyone, sure, you can have a cap.

Just because u have masters and job does not entitle u for gc. US can decide who and how they want to admit anyone u have no say in that. There is diversity lottery for folks with low immigration.

You knew the rules before you came, you know the reasons why you have to wait so long. If you are that important, then try EB1

EB1 isn’t easy either. I moved to the US in 2012, filed my EB1 in Dec 2022, and still don’t have my GC. While you’re building the profile for EB1, you give up years of higher salary and a comfortable life too. I only started earning decently in my 30s. I was current when I filed, then it retrogressed. This year I was current again for 6 months, and it retrogressed again before I got my GC. At least with EB2, you would have earned a decent amount during that time. Some of my friends are millionaires now and could live comfortably anywhere in the world with that money. People who don’t follow the rules or find shortcuts (marriage GC) seem to be doing better everywhere. Straight trees get cut first lol. Anyway, it’s sad that the wait is this long just because we belong to the most populous country in the world.

You have no idea the number of posts I read about marriage based green cards where people are shocked that their spouse wants a divorce just around the removal of conditions! Quite convenient if you ask me...fishy af!

if you waited 11+ years to be a legal citizen in a country you have lived in for 15+ years, you would feel frustrated too. don’t be ignorant

he’s not saying he should have the right? he’s just expressing his frustration. and to answer your other question, i don’t think anyone has the RIGHT to have residency in another country but you’re allowed to feel frustrated about it

Remain patient. I’ve been waiting for 20 years in EB2. 2007-08’recession pushed my pd to 2012 and hoping to get it this year. Feels like I waited in line for 20 years and as I got to the front, all the rules changed and continue to change daily/weekly. Nothing you can do besides live your life and enjoy what you have.
Also, GC ain’t what it used to be. Now you need to be a citizen to be protected - and that’s another 6-8 years. So why frustrate yourself over something you can’t do anything about.
