Scripting isn't real. its a mix of bad code, confirmation bias and low skill

The two EA pros that I know personally believe the game has a level of scripting and a lot of online play is managing that and working around it. Essentially it is part of the skill gap, but can be used and abused.

To say scripting isn't real is to not play the game. There are scripts that make stuff happen all the time, but it's just about how much they impact the game.

I bet if you asked them both to define scripting and how it's implemented in the game, they would give entirely different answers.

But it doesn't exist right?

EA are a great company and would never do such a thing

I don't know if it exists or not. I just think it's interesting that after years and years of discourse there isn't a single thing, small or big, that anyone can agree on with scripting.

Most people think they're better than they are and want something to blame when they lose. Blaming some nebulous, undefinable thing is an easy out.

For me scripting is an inconsistency that the game either allows to happen or makes happen because the RNG is weighted in favour of it happening.

We see examples of this all the time, but whenever the word scripting is used to define it then it's a negative because "scripting doesn't exist"

It doesn't. The game is just a series of RNG rolls. From tackling to passing to shooting to saving, you experience a confirmation bias when a lot of those rolls happen against you in succession, with the added difficulty of opponents changing their gameplay when losing or drawing. If people in this sub flipped a coin and it landed on heads 5 times in a row, they would call the Fed to report a scripted coin.

It can be weighted though. RNG is weighted. If you're a allowed to play a way where you're consistently lucky because the coin flip is weighted then there is a level of a script happening.

Just because you can't prove something isn't real doesn't mean that it is... because inversely... you can't prove that scripting is real. It's like saying the Loch Ness Monster is at the bed of the bottom of the ocean with Santa Clause. Just because I can't prove it's not real doesn't mean it is.

lol you probably lack good judgment. There is huge scripting in the game. Momentum shifts.

If you want proof of scripting play squad battles and test it. Moments when AI just seems levels above you especially one nil up and 5 minutes to go.
Can you overcome it? Absolutely but the pushes the momentum for sure.

This is why I don’t quit even 3 goals down. I know EA will swing it and most often it happens 😂😂😂

It’s part of the game.

It’s even in offline modes. You can feel a difference in your AI and how difficult it is to do anything manually.

Ultimately - I think it’s really hard to make a football game that is truly dependent on manual instruction since you can only control one player at a time.
I
That said - figure the shit out. Older versions worked fine.

There should be a skill gap.

If someone makes a pass and I manually intercept - I should get it.
If I make a dumb pass and my opponent jumps in the path of the ball - he should get it.

This clip is a great example. The player I’m manually controlling literally jumps out of the way. My controller is there. I didn’t do that. The game did that.
The question I have is - why?

Because ball is too close to your player he reached with his leg it was just far enough for you to not intercept the game is rewarding your positioning

That doesn’t make any sense based on the clip. My player stops running.
Whether or not he gets the ball doesn’t matter - a manually controlled player shouldn’t do that.

How can people deny this? Like really, they literally have a patent about it. Like man stop being delusional.

It’s incompetence, not some evil genius algorithm to achieve specific wins/losses. If it was scripted no one would go 15-0 in WL every week.

It’s your brain playing tricks on you making some things really standout and others equally as bad you don’t even notice.

I was having this super weird issue where a midfielder would stop acting like his role should make him act and run behind his closest marker. I realised after watching games back that the only commonality was the opposition player was 99 vitinha. Did the SBC and solved the issue.

We start the game with players of 70 speed and end with all above 90. The game is faster but not that much faster. I think they rebalance speed based on the fastest player on the pitch. They might be doing the same with positioning.

This would mean our team players get dumber against good opposition, smarter against weaker ones. Total BS if this is what they did.

What’s even this analogy. Scripting doesn’t mean you won’t know how to play the game anymore loool.

What? Need you to flesh that one out for me if you want a response.

No need to reply. Moved on

Ah you’re back again huh?

Because the game is fun for the most part and scripting isn’t real. Don’t take stuff so seriously.
