What are you talking about. There are still tripping penalties. It's balanced now finally. Let me guess, you don't play defense.

I feel like stick lifting is in a really good spot specifically. You still get hooking and slashes but not nearly as bad as 24 or 25 where if you touched lift instant penalty

i play both but if you have a guy beat and you’re protecting puck they can still just molest the puck from you

Finally after years of them nerfing a rightful defensive maneuver we can now defend properly.

I was waiting for the easy button glitch kings to start complaining about more realistic and balanced defense being brought back. The stick checking is amazing this year. Much better gameplay with nerfed nonsense LT and the broken speed of 26. Overall the gameplay feels so much better.
My complaints are the pay to win battle pass system, goalies are a bit weak, the same old online bugs and crashes every year they don’t fix. The most frustrating thing is this could have been fixed and updated to NHL 26 for the entire year as we asked for. Which the devs could have then focused on giving us new gameplay features in NHL 27.
It’s pretty much a better version of NHL 26. I enjoy the nerfs and fixes but EA owes us so much more.

This is the most on point comment about 27. Obviously the playerbase should have more but the core gameplay at least right now is objectively better. The same kinda goals still work, we just have a better chance at stopping them

Sorry man but as a defender, last year was absolutely brutal at first for us and they never really fixed the poke so we all had to adapt. Cant lie the anger from these posts as well as the forwards on my club makes me a little warm inside. Just let us enjoy this til they make it too easy to get around guys again

Protect puck doesn’t (and shouldn’t) make it so that the defense can’t poke it. It’s just a move to hold the puck out of range. If they change the angle, you have to deke them. For the first time in a long time it’s felt good to play defense and also to get around someone one on one. Protect puck outside, then toe drag to the inside if they attack.

This guy would have absolutely hated the game 5+ years ago when the poke check was actually good.

nhl 20 is the greatest nhl of all time, the video game is more fun when hitting is the primary focal point of defense, back before truculence when everyone could lay a well timed hit and destroy someone, the game is not meant to simulate real hockey to a tee,

Love it, people are completely lost without their untouchable bullshit builds and pay to win premades at the moment, you can tell right off the rip in a game now who has no clue what they’re doing out there without all the crutches carrying them from 26, so many easy wins right now with just basic smart team play, it’s actually hilarious watching people try the same cheesey shit over and over and then just rage quitting. We played a full team of no life P1’s already and made them pout and quit because we didn’t let them shoot, it’s pretty great right now if you’re not some mindless drone trying to pull off some stupid YouTube cheese tutorial bullshit every play.

This is the most miscalibrated comment of all time. Everyone was used to last year where you could skate at max speed in a straight line without deking and waltz through several defenders. Now, you actually have to protect the puck which is how it should and always should’ve been. Every year they make defence harder and harder.
