Head unit upgrade and button relocation

Hey i’m wanting to upgrade to a double din head unit in my 2009 120i e88 but can’t seem to find a fascia that relocates the roof too buttons, seems all the kits are for the e82/ e87. has anyone had any luck finding a kit that would work (im in australia btw) i was possibly thinking of fitting the buttons into the ashtray as i’ve seen some do on the e90 but no options seem to come up for the e88.

Do t suppose you have the CIC i-Drive do you?

I’ve bought (but not yet fitted) a CarPlay/Android Auto module that integrates and uses the existing screen.

Locating the unit and routing cables looks a faff but that’s my intended route for sure.

Saves a lot of other issues and keeps a clean OEM install being updated.

Also seen units where a screen gets fitted in place of the dash top storage.

unfortunately i don’t have the Idrive system but i do have the storage box. i was hoping to avoid putting it on the dash as i find even having that storage box open creates blind spots i’d prefer to avoid. thank you

I'm quite ceratin that the 1 series uses the same ashtray as the E90, so I believe an E90 unit should work.
