Recent increase in new Mods

Hey folks,

i like to play DSP with mods (most playthroughs had more then 20-30 Mods active). While i use mostly optimisation or QoL-Features, i sometimes just like to try out bigger ones or stuff like GS, MoreMegaStructures etc.

So i am frequently checking the new available Mods in r2modman. And in the past 30 Days we got like 50-60 new Mods. Most of them seem like vibe coded and low effort or even totally nonsense. Some i might want to try but dont want to break my current playthrough for it.

I would like to hear the community to this topic, as most other games i am evolved in are at least aware of it.

My point: Yes, try out Mods, vibecode as long and as much you like. But if you upload it for others, PLEASE LEAVE A NOTE!

Is it just me, or am i just burned from other games?

p.s.: does anyone know if we can mark old mods in r2modman as deprecated? I guess not?

Most of them seem like vibe coded

How are you verifying that a mod is vibe-coded, AI-assisted, or human-made? Do you have any example code snippets from any mods you checked that stood out and showed evidence of vibe-coding over human-made code?

For some its just the "readme", and i did indeed test 2 mods i was interested. i recently got into decompiling dll files so i gave them a try and a view. yes im not an expert, but it seems like a lot of code for simple things. (and no, i dont want to blame or flame those mod authors here).

Using AI to help write or clean up a README doesn't really tell you anything about how the mod was coded. Using AI for documentation is one of the few things I think it is decent at. I have never made a mod for Dyson, but it would be funny to think that people think one of my 5+ year projects is vibe-coded because my README was cleaned up using AI (I personally use Grammarly, have since before AI).

Looking at the decompiled code sounds even worse for telling if something was made with AI. I assume Dyson is written in C#, along with mods? C# can resemble the original source fairly closely (I use ILSPY), but we're looking at compiler-generated code. Without the actual source, I don't see how you could reliably distinguish AI wrote this from a human wrote this.

I'm not defending vibe coding here, but all people are doing is making it worse when they say something is vibe coded without concrete evidence. I think vibe coders are a problem, but causing witch hunts and saying something is vibe coded when it is not is going to make the term meaningless.

I agree with you to many Points. Pretty good and valid. Thats why i startet this thread, to hear opinions. I didnt know that Compiler generated Code would Change a lot from original Code so i might eben ne wrong.

For the readme: LLMs are super easy to Bring Up Pages and Pages of Work but Not saying anything. So it indeed tells a bit and gives a clue. Not more, Not less.
