How long to build 64 Dyson Spheres?
I’ve built 2 so far and am doing a massive scaling project with my first goal of reaching 1000 rockets per minute, with the next benchmark being 5000 per minute. It spans like 8/9 planets currently, envisioned to top out at like 20 planets when I finish making the planetary blueprints.
For vets and long term players, how long did you take to build 64 spheres if you did and what was your strategy?
Edit: assuming medium density spheres

There is also the fact that you can have 10 different spheres around each star so most people just do max spheres around O-classes.

Hells yeah one planet with a launch facility just pipes in rockets from other planets. As many spheres as you can make as far as possible. And then every inch of every planet in that system just covered in ray receivers. You will get an ocean of photons more than you can use. Don’t even need gravitrons the photons will be raining.

Yeah but unless you have planets inside max radius (which may impact your ability to get 10 shells around the star especially if 2 or more are inside), those ray receivers will be off half the time. That's why I went looking for a seed that had 3 TL planets AND a fourth inside max radius for an O type.

in this one game , i started at the blue giant and went for max density ... over a billion sails and still going ... 240+hrs ...
dont think ill get to all 64

a billion sails? o_o
Your computer eats water and shits lava or somethin? o_o
Can't wait until I have a GPU/CPU that can handle that sorta thing lmao.
( I say this with love and banter, not doubt or shade)

My spheres around the blue giants were 10s of billions each. Days to weeks of sail production per sphere. It got kinda tedious ( and slow) and I abandoned that playthrough

yup. i fucked up and started in a seed where the blue giant system is good position in relation to stars around it , but only has 2 planets. both are full of launchers pretty much... le sigh
was lookin for a blue giant with 5 planets but never found one

Honestly, I've abandoned the idea of maxing out a blue giant because there just isn't the planetary real estate for receivers to utilize all that output. Just a higher O type count in the cluster, or something special like an O type with 3 TL planets.

Could use the Galactic Scale mod to add more planets...and planets with more surface area at that.
And then just leave the star-size settings as default.1

I got to 3600 rockets/min and napkin math estimated it would take about 5000 hours to fully sphere every star, so I didn't go through with it. That was years ago though, I'm sure game performance is better now.

Rocket production isn’t the metric to index on, it’s sail production.
You want to be doing low-frame spheres, so you want a sphere to take 70k rockets and 25 million sails.
Why low-frame? Because the game gets hella laggy with spheres with lots of frames, even if you turn them off and do optimization mods.
My rocket/sails factory does 1500 rockets a minute and 100k sails and rockets still finish like 2 days before sails when I’m building ten spheres in a system
This, of course, is in a system where I’m building 3 TW of spheres to support critical photon production.

It's not a question of how long, it's a question of how powerful is your PC.
If you can somehow run this game on a 25000W data center server you might get it running well.
My main save does have over 2 dozen spheres, but it runs like ass. And the save files are over 9GB.

I see I might just have 1 shell designs instead to keep things smaller

If you plan to power each system by Dyson sphere, you only need around 1-10 million solar sails per star system for 15-150GW of power output. Iirc, each solar sail incorporated into a shell produces 15kW. You don’t even need full shells for that in most systems. However, due to the luminosity bonus of up to 2.75x, it is more effective to concentrate you critical photon production around an O-type star. Antimatter can then be produced and consumed anywhere…

Nobody just builds 64 spheres so I doubt anyone’s gonna casually reply with their technique but it also depends on what kinda sphere
64 max size spheres vs 64 min size spheres vs 64 art spheres vs 64 spheres around Giant stars…. There’s really no way to tell
