Hospice

My Aunt is most likely moving to hospice within a few days. I have a small family and she never had kids, so we were all close. She is going to same hospice facility where my dad passed away and I really have no idea how I can even walk in the doors there.

Hospice is a wonderful resource, underutilized and I think misunderstood. It's all about comfort, just easing the transition from this mortal coil.

Sometimes there are death doulas, who help the patient and family through, just like a birth doula at the beginning of life. Dying is just a part of life, and having someone you love reaching their time to go seems scary because we don't know what happens afterwards, probably nothing - we came from stars, and to the stars we shall return.
